How to make it

  • Her recipes are quite sparse with directions.
  • Dissolve the yeast in the warm water with the sugar and salt.
  • Let it proof 10 minutes.
  • Mix the potatoes and butter together, add proofed yeast and the initial 3 1/2 cups of flour.
  • Mix with electric mixer on med speed until smooth about two minutes.
  • add remaining four cups of flour and knead for 10 minutes.
  • Return to a greased bowl and let rise until double
  • Punch down, and make into loaves.
  • Bake at 375 degrees for 40 minutes.

    Tried this recipe. Easy to follow. Bread was great, nice texture. Am now making my third batch in as many days. This time I added baby carrots that went thru the food processor.

    Sounds so good and like it came from your Grandma,I am thinking it will make two 8" loaves or maybe it is two 9" loaves,wonder if it could just be made into a round loaf.Thanks for sharing.
