Ingredients
  • 3 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1/4 cup onion, chopped
  • 6 cups cabbage, cut into thin wedges
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 pinch white sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar

Directions
  1. Place bacon in a large, deep skillet.
  2. Cook over medium high heat until evenly browned and crisp.
  3. Remove bacon and set aside.
  4. Cook onion in the hot bacon grease until tender.
  5. Add cabbage.
  6. Stir in water, sugar, salt and pepper.
  7. Cook until cabbage wilts, about 15 minutes.
  8. Stir in bacon.
  9. Splash with vinegar before serving OR serve with vinegar on the side.

Well this recipe may help me eat more cabbage.. I never know what to do with it and it is suppose to be good for you...thank you five forks

Sounds great! We do something similar with brussels sprouts! We shred them like cabbage and then do what you have done and at the last minute - a squeeze of lime juice!

Love this one,I have made fried cabage for years. Now why didn't I ever think of adding bacon. Man throw in some buttered noodles and I bet you would have the best Halushki ever. 5


I'm liking wynne's idea of adding potatoes.. mmmmm! But I also like bobby's idea of adding buttered noodles. I never would have thought of the brussels sprouts angle, mark. I guess I should just thank you all for your confidence and your fives! Love ya..
