Ingredients

How to make it

  • Heat a frying pan or small pot and add olive oil. When hot, add the onions and garlic. When soft, add some salt, pepper and the cumin. Cook until fragrant.
  • Add the black beans with their liquid, 1/2 cup water and the vinegar.
  • Bring to a boil, lower heat and simmer for 20 minutes to let it thicken again.
  • Serve. It is traditional to serve this with white rice. I served it with boiled sweet potatoes and loved it.

I grew my own black beans last year. Not sure if it worth the work, but fun shelling with my grandaughter.
