A wonderful pound cake made by my grandmother all the time while we were little. Wonderful for dessert or breakfast. Bad for you, but so good.

I will make this but leave most of the salt out as my hubby has HBP. Thanks for a great recipe

Use unsalted butter and add 1/2 tsp salt. The amt of salt stated in the recipe is waaaay too much.

taste's good, but a bit dense- I would cut some baking powder into the flour
a bit on the buttery side for me- next time i think i'll cut it to 80%
otherwise great recipe- easily adapted to make lots of interesting desserts

Just wanted to add that I cut the salt to one teaspoon when I make this. My grandmother's always came out right but I like to cut some of the sodium out, so people don't die of a coronary in front of you.
