Ingredients

How to make it

  • Place beans and 1/4 cup water in microwave safe bowl.
  • Cover with plastic wrap and pierce wrap with fork.
  • Microwave on HIGH 4 to 7 minutes or until crisp-tender.
  • Plunge beans into ice water to stop cooking process.
  • Drain well and set aside.
  • Cook chopped bacon in large nonstick skillet over medium heat until crisp.
  • Remove bacon to paper towels to drain, reserving 2 tablespoons drippings.
  • Wipe skillet clean with paper towels.
  • Saute green onions in reserved drippings over medium high heat for 1 minute.
  • Stir in beans, salt and pepper.
  • Saute 2 to 3 minutes until thoroughly heated.
  • Stir in bacon.

    The cast pan is probably a better health choice, joyce, although sometimes it's difficult to overlook the value of our microwaves. Enjoy! Thanks for your 5.

    Another favorite of mine that I dearly love. I almost, always cook my greenbeans this way, the bacon and onion gives them such an unique taste! The only different is that I use an iron fry pan and cook them on top of stove.I will try the microwave this sunday.

    I always cook my green beans with bacon, it gives them a smokey flavor, of course I can always take something healthy and add calories, it is a curse. This sounds better adding the bacon but not the fat, thanks for a great post!
