How to make it

  • Combine sugar, clear gel, cinnamon, and water in a large pot on stove top.
  • Cook on med. heat stirring constantly until thickened.
  • Remove from heat and add salt and lemon juice.
  • Fill bottles with apples. ( Wide mouth jars work best)
  • Ladel sauce into jars until fill to 1 inch from top.
  • You can use a butter knife slid down the side between jar and apples to help fill if needed.
  • Put seals and rings on bottles (made sure rim is clean)
  • Put in hot water bath and boil gently for 20 minutes.
  • Remove from water to towel or cooling rack to let cool and seal.

    Neither a pectin nor a gelatin, ClearJel is a specially modified form of corn starch that can safely be used as a thickener in home canned pie fillings. Unlike regular cornstarch, ClearJel is one thickener that is recommended by the USDA for use in home canning.

    what do you mean by "clear gel" -Is that pectin or gelatin?

    Hi I'd really like to use this but I'm not sure what clear gel is could someone let me know if this is gelatin or pectin

    Thank you, Momto5! I wanted to use up some apples to make fried apple pies but had a hard time finding a good recipe until I saw yours! This is just what I was hoping to find! Thank you for your great recipe!
