Grilled Chicken Thighs In Buttermilk Chive Marinade Recipe

The thigh is my favorite piece of chicken! Buttermilk is the best marinade for fried chicken, according to Alton Brown, and here's a recipe for that tangy juicy moist chicken on the grill! Marinade for 4-6 hours.

Ingredients
  • 8 chicken thighs
  • 3/4 c buttermilk
  • 3 T fresh snipped chives
  • 3 T fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 T fresh lemon zest
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • Lemon wedges
  • Snipped fresh chives

Directions
  1. If desired, remove skin from chicken
  2. Place chicken in a large ziploc baggie and set in a shallow dish
  3. In a medium bowl, combine buttermilk, 3 T chives, lemon juice and zest, and garlic.
  4. Pour marinade over chicken and seal bag
  5. Marinate in fridge 4-6 hours, turn bag occasionally
  6. When ready to grill, remove chicken from bag, drain, and discard leftover marinade
  7. Preheat grill to medium high
  8. Place chicken thighs, bone side up, on grill and reduce heat to medium
  9. Cover and grill 50-60 minutes, to 180 degrees
