How to make it

  • Cut a horizontal pocket in each steak, cutting to but not through the other side; set aside
  • In a large skillet, cook onion and garlic in the margarine or butter, until onion is tender
  • Stir in celery salt and pepper
  • Stuff pockets with onion mixture, skewer closed
  • Reserve onion pan with drippings
  • Mix wine and soy together and brush on steaks
  • CHARCOAL GRILL
  • Grill steaks on the rack of an uncovered grill directly over medium coals
  • Allow 10-12 minutes for med. rare (145 *F)
  • Allow 12-15 minutes for med. (160 *F)
  • Turn steaks only once, halfway through grilling time
  • GAS GRILL
  • Preheat grill
  • Reduce heat to medium
  • Place steaks on grill rack over heat, cover and grill as above
  • Meanwhile, wipe mushrooms clean and quarter
  • Saute in onion pan, adding more margarine or butter if needed
  • Serve mushrooms on top of steaks.
