Chicken In Gruyere Sauce Recipe
This is a lovely Swiss pasta recipe, which my DH has fallen head over heels in love with. I now make this almost every other week! (the sauce freezes well so for the two of us I make one batch and freeze half for later use)

Ingredients
  • 400 gr chicken, cubed
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • salt and pepper
  • 50 gr butter
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 dl chicken stock
  • 2 dl cream or creme fraiche
  • 150 gr gruyere cheese, grated
  • approx 2 tbsp cornflour

Directions
  1. Sprinkle paprika, salt and pepper on the chicken and fry the chicken pieces in the butter until they start to brown.
  2. Add the onion and continue to fry for a few minutes.
  3. Add the stock and get it to a simmer. Then add the cream and cheese. Stir.
  4. When the cheese has melted use the cornflour to bind the sauce to your taste.
  5. You could now spread the sauce in an ovenproof dish and sprinkle on some extra cheese. Grill for a few minutes untill the cheese on top is nice and bubbly (longer if you store the sauce in the fridge). But just like it is it's also very nice.
  6. Serve over pasta. Good with either a green salad, tomatoes or my favourite: broccoli.
