How to make it

  • Mix rub ingredients together and rub into both sides of roast
  • In frying pan, heat pan and then add olive oil
  • Place roast in heated pan and sear on both sides
  • Remove to baking dish (or dutch oven)
  • Add onions, garlic and mushrooms to pan and cook about 3 minutes and be sure to get anything on bottom of pan mixed in
  • Mix liquid ingredients (up to beef grandules) well
  • Add onion/garlic mixture over beef
  • Pour liquid mixture over all in pan
  • Add bay leaves and water
  • Cover and cook at 325-350 for at least 3 hours
  • when done, remove roast and veggies from pan onto plate
  • Skim off visible fat from pan and then pour gravy in pan into bowl
  • to either serve with potatoes or meat
  • Great with a hot loaf of buttered bread

    I made this for my family's Christmas lunch. It truly is the best pot roast ever. Smelling it cook was just torture. We were all ready to eat when the timer went off. :)

    It sounds devine, I see theres mushrooms also and I love mushrooms. So I will deffenitly try it and then commend back. Tanks for sharing your recipe.
