you can use this recipe as a basic recipe...getting different flavors each time you make it by changing the type of apple and the nuts... this makes 4 loaves. the recipe is from 1884 Paxton House Inn Thomasville, Georgia
Ingredients
- • 1 cup butter (2sticks) shopping list
- • 2/3 cup milk shopping list
- • 2 cups granulated sugar shopping list
- • 4 eggs shopping list
- • 3 ½ cups all purpose flour shopping list
- • 1 teaspoon salt shopping list
- • 1 teaspoon baking powder shopping list
- • 2 teaspoons soda shopping list
- • 1 cup chopped nuts shopping list
- • 4 cups coarsely chopped, peeled apple shopping list
- • 2 teaspoons allspice shopping list
- • 2 teaspoons cinnamon shopping list
- • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract shopping list

How to make it
- • Cream the butter, add sugar slowly and continue until light and lemon colored.
- Beat in eggs.
- Sift flour, baking powder, soda, and salt.
- Add to cream mixture with the milk.
- Stir in apples, nuts, vanilla and spice.
- Spoon into 4 (9x5x3 inch) greased loaf pans.
- Bake at 300 degrees for 60 minutes.
