How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350
  • Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan
  • In a large bowl, combine flour,sugar,cocoa,baking soda and salt
  • Add the softened butter,sour cream, eggs and vanilla
  • Beat on medium speed for 3 minutes, scraping bowl as needed
  • Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 40-45 minutes or until wooden pick comes out clean
  • Cool in pan on wire rack
  • When completely cool, frost
  • FROSTING
  • In a heavy saucepan, melt 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips and 1/4 cup butter over low heat
  • Stir until smooth
  • Remove from heat and let cool 5 minutes
  • Place in a large bowl and add 1/2 cup sour cream and 1/2 t vanilla
  • Beat until blended
  • Add 2 1/4 cups powdered sugar and beat until light and fluffy
  • Frost cake and store in the refrigerator until ready to serve
