No-fail Sour Cream Chocolate Cake

- 1 3/4 cup unbleached all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1 3/4 cup sugar shopping list
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa shopping list
- 1 1/2 t baking soda shopping list
- 1 t salt shopping list
- 2/3 cup butter, softened shopping list
- 2 cups sour cream shopping list
- 2 large eggs shopping list
- 1 t vanilla shopping list
- frosting (recipe follows) shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350
- Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan
- In a large bowl, combine flour,sugar,cocoa,baking soda and salt
- Add the softened butter,sour cream, eggs and vanilla
- Beat on medium speed for 3 minutes, scraping bowl as needed
- Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 40-45 minutes or until wooden pick comes out clean
- Cool in pan on wire rack
- When completely cool, frost
- FROSTING
- In a heavy saucepan, melt 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips and 1/4 cup butter over low heat
- Stir until smooth
- Remove from heat and let cool 5 minutes
- Place in a large bowl and add 1/2 cup sour cream and 1/2 t vanilla
- Beat until blended
- Add 2 1/4 cups powdered sugar and beat until light and fluffy
- Frost cake and store in the refrigerator until ready to serve
