How do I change the username?

  • spaghettichef 11 years ago
My Mom came to me in hopes that I'd be able to help her figure out how to change her username here on grouprecipes where she's known as sosousme. Since she established her account, she's since become better known as LindySez and would love to change her username from sosousme to LindySez here on grouprecipes, but there doesn't seem to be a mechanism for it. Is this something the system administrators can help with?

    Hey spaghettichef!

At this time, changing your username isn't an option. It may become one in the future, but I can't give you any guarantee or a time line for it... just know it's been mentioned, here, by the PTB.

Sorry! But, we're lucky to have your mama here, under any name! :-)

    Thanks Keni,

Judging from the number of followers you have, looks like we're pretty lucky to have you around here too :)

It's unfortunate about not being able to change the name. Early on, she tried to sign up for a new account, but it apparently recognized her email address and reverted her back to sosousme. Now she has too many recipes posted and too many followers to go with the "new account" work around.

    Appreciate your response!

You're very welcome. I'm sorry the answer wasn't more what you were hoping for... I do hope that option becomes possible, at some point.

And, don't let the number of followers fool ya, I think I actually prolly have 10 or 12...tops... who actually pay attention to what I post, anymore. I've just been around a long time and people like to click that follow button! I appreciate every one of 'em, though, don't get me wrong. :-)

Are you planning on sticking around, or are you just here to try and help out your dear mama? Either way, nice to "meet" you and maybe see you around here...if so, enjoy your stay!

I Looooove eating my Mom's food. And I even enjoy cooking. But I'm probably not going to be posting too many recipes. I'm just supporting my Mom, trying to help her through some of her technical challenges. Thought for sure there had to be a way, but wrong again! Story of my life ;)

    Great "meeting" you too!

I love trying new recipes out. Is there any one or two of yours that seem to get more accolades than the rest? I'm sure they're all great, but if you point me to your top few, I'll take a close look and maybe even add them to my menu :)

Mercy Lawd, that's quite a request... I'm honored, but I have over 800 most of which are my own or a variation of something I've seen or had, elsewhere... but that doesn't mean I think they're anything great... I just love to cook and love to create and love to share. And, I have big appetites who are always willing and eager to be my guinea pigs!

If you are honestly interested, give me some place to start....which meal? I've got 'em all..snacks, appetizers, soups, salads, lunch, breakfast, brunch, dinner, dessert, drinks... or howsabout name a protein? hehehehe.... seriously, I'd be honored if you wanna try something and it'd be fun to give a few suggestions, just tell me where to start.

But, you're used to your mama's cooking and she's obviously stellar, so.... I'm not nervous.. nope.... not even a lil bit..... ;-)

Haha... funny! Okay, guess that was a bit broad. You got me. How about we start with dinner, something with chicken or fish.

Oooo... and how about a favorite dessert? Those are always fun!

Okay... I can narrow that down a bit. Do you like mushrooms? I'll submit these for my chicken entry... Not Your Daddys Chicken And Waffles or Havarti Chicken In Sage Infused Brown Butter Mushroom Sauce

Maybe these two for my fish...Cajun Seared Tuna And White Bean Puree With Jalapeno Olive Salad or Nola Inspired Blackened Salmon With Creamy Shrimp Sauce

and for my dessert, probably these Omgs or Cast Iron Ancho Brownies With Salted Caramel Topping

    :-)

Wow, so many great options! You've certainly given me something to "gnaw" on. I'll let you know how it goes :)

BTW. Unlike my dear mother, I LOVE mushrooms :)

Okay, good... cus so do we and a LOT of my stuff uses 'em... some of my favs actually spotlight mushrooms. I'll pass some of those along too, if you're interested. I'll send em using the mail option, here, though, if that's okay... get it off the Help board. Hehehe

Hope you have a great day and, thanks, again for the interest...with your mama's talents, I'm honestly honored you'd try something of mine. :)

If someone can manage to get hold of Lilliancooks, she has two accounts under different names. Maybe she can tell you how to set up a second account. The second account is named Reviews.

Love the look Keni. I see a platinum blonde coming on. That just shakes my timbers but good. Want a cookie little girl. : ) I can say that, now that I'm 60.

I think you can open up another account as long as you do it from a different ISP than your current account. I believe Lillian set up her other account at her husband's work or her mom's house. Something like that. Once it is set up, you can log into it from the same ISP as your other account, ie I can log into Reviews and then go back to my own profile from the same computer.

Ha! P7O, My hair is what it is... in moonlight and flourescent lighting it damn near glows... but in sunlight and other lights it's just a regular ol' blonde. Hehehe. So, don't get your cookies out over false advertising but if it's still up for grabs, I could use the calories from a cookie. :)

That means that Spaghettichef could have set up an account As LindySez and his mom could have taken over the account as long as she was provided the password?
Maybe Sosousme has more than one offspring or relative or close friend that has access to the 'net that would be willing to set up the account.

Just a thought here. Could you set up an account at your local library's free access computer terminal?

@Keni: Yeah, send it to me! I figure 690 followers can't be wrong! Haha. Just nothing with beets please. That's the only thing I can't eat.

@Pointsevenout: I'm fairly confident I could easily setup a LindySez username for her (as @Frankieanne pointed out). But if I did that, then the problem becomes how does she migrate all her recipes over to the new name (without having to manually copy/paste them one at a time), not to mention drag all her followers, the featured recipes number, etc, etc. Once you have a username for a while, you build up some equity that makes it sticky. So, changing the username is really the best option at this point in time. Thanks for thinking on it though!

You've got it right, pso. Lillian provided me with the Reviews password so I could access it. Which reminds me that I should do so and bookmark all the recipes everyone has made lately! :)

Here's an option. Bookmark all of the recipes of Sosousme using the LindySez username. That will put all of the recipes of Sosousme's profile in LindySez's profile under the bookmark tab. It will also make all of the recipes searchable by words in the name of the recipes. Just like it would be under the recipes tab.
Frankieanne uses the same routine to pull the recipes from the "I Made It" group to the "Reviews" profile.

Thought I had responded, but doesn't seem to have taken. Thank you Pointsevenout! I'll pass it along and see if that works for her. BTW, I just flagged the last comment, thinking that would be a good thing. Apparently, it's not. Sorry
