Apple Cake

    Recipe by Snuffy: Apple Cake/saved
I have to think this author has a sense of humor when the directions use the word "pour".
The batter is very close to the thickness of a heavy icing and has to be spread into position with a rubber spatula.
Used a 10x15 casserole. It filled half way then the rest of the way when baked.
A good apple flavor. Lots of cinnamon in this recipe and I thought it would be overpowering but it's all good. Cake has more of a brown coloring than one is used to.
It's pretty good warm. I'll have to wait until it's cold and have another piece.
Couldn't detect any orange juice flavor.

Four eggs! That is a lot of eggs. I wonder why four? Interesting.
There are a lot of apple type recipes floating around here lately. Its making me want some apple crisp.
    Another gorgeous picture, pso.

It does look like a beautiful apple cake Points. I wonder myself about the amount of cinnamon in this being too overpowering myself as a little bit goes a long way. I am liking the amount of sugar in this though. I really like to let the apples have their own sweetness in a cake or pie. I might give this one a go but I am still leery of the cinnamon and probably I will cut the amount in half. Thanks for bringing this one to my attention Points:)

Don't think you will have any trouble with the amount of cinnamon. While I was having another piece at lunch, I was thinking that raisins would go well in the cake. Of course you would have to reconstitute the raisins as not to take any liquid away from the already thick cake batter. This cake has almost a spice cake flavor. And the apple slices taste good at room temp or a little chilled.
Keep this one in the fridge because of the apples.
Still couldn't taste any orange flavor. Wonder what it brings to the cake.

Lactose intolerance maybe? Raisins I suppose if you like them but I will pass on them thank you. Maybe a bit of orange zest would bring a nice addition to this cake as well?
I didn't need to put the Happy Apple Bottoms cake I made the other day in the fridge?

I find that the smell of cinnamon is so much stronger than the flavor in baking. I actually usually double up on it because I find recipes don't usually have enough. Go for it G4U :)
