Cream Cheese Squares

Recipe by NPMarie: Cream Cheese Squares
Liked the filling, not so much the crust.
Filling could be doubled so to get a goodly bite of cream cheese with the snack.
Have to have a good set of choppers to enjoy the bottom crust. I found it a little hard, difficult to cut through and sticking to the bottom of the baking dish. Wound up using a pizza wheel to get a clean cut through the crust.
Maybe some parchment paper is in order here.

I know I would love this. But I cant make it or I would eat the whole thing at a sitting. And the crunchy crust sounds right up my alley.

I looked at this one when she posted it. I thought it looked pretty tasty! I'm not a walnut person, though, but I was thinking almonds sounded like they would go good with cream cheese.

Thanks for trying this Points:) I appreciate you taking the time to review it! I'm trying to figure out why the crust was so hard! Mine didn't turn out like that...maybe if you cut the baking time by a few minutes it wouldn't be so hard...The recipe calls for 25 mins, I baked for 30 just my preference..I was also thinking a graham cracker crust would be really good in this recipe, more like cheese cake:) What do you think?

@ Frankieanne, almonds would be awesome, any type of nut would work!

@ Mr P, ahhh, go ahead and make this, it's ok to "PIG OUT" once in a while!!! LOL

Graham would be good. I used the nuts I had, pecans. It was better after I let it set on the counter for a while. Used the minimum times for baking.

You know if it was in the fridge the crust would be hard..room temp must be the key :) The recipe didn't indicate whether to leave it in or out of the fridge after letting it set up..

WELL Then! We'll have to eat it all shortly to keep the cream cheese from getting funky.

I kept mine in the fridge, because I'm just that way (this girl doesn't do funky cream cheese) lol, but you could cut a piece and let it sit out for a few minutes I would think..

Well.....I did 2 things I shouldnt have. 1st, I made this. Although I didnt eat the whole thing. I ate half. When I started to make this and opened the flower, it had teeny little bugs in it. WAY smaller than ants. SO now I was without flower. I dont have graham crackers so I used the next best thing which I have plenty of becasue of the second thing I did that I shouldnt have. I went shopping Hungry. I came home with 5 boxes of Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch. So I tossed 3 cups and a cup of almonds in the mixer in place of flour and brown sugar then followed the the recipe from there. Except I also added some sliced almonds on top. NP, this was SOOOO good. I thought it would be super sweet with Cap'n Crunch, but it wasnt at all. It sure was rich though. Thanks for a great recipe. Added a pic. Oh and the hardest thing was waiting for it to cool in the fridge. Thats why this post is so late :P

Wow, nice job on the substitution, MrP!! It looks great. I love that first close-up of all the layers!
Five boxes of Cap'n Crunch. It sounds like you like Cap'n Crunch as much as I love Honey Nut Cheerios - which I am not allowed to buy because I will eat the whole box. :)

Thanks ladies. Yes, I love Cap'n Crunch. I stay away from it because I will eat a whole box without even making it to the fridge for milk. The roof of my mouth will be sore for days now : (

Oh, and Its good on ice cream too. But isnt everything : )

I made these for the guys at my husbands work and they loved them! I made 2 pans, one with 1/2 walnuts and 1/2 almonds, and the other pan without nuts. Between 6 guys they finished all of them in 1 night shift! They were awesome though! This is definitely a dessert that will be made again!
