    Dead Mans Steak
I came across this when I was trying to decide what to do with a little New York I had. I'm not much into heat and I have to admit that I cut the chili sauce just a bit which made it just right for me. I couldn't taste any liquid smoke flavor at all - darn it. I kept hoping the sauce would thicken up a bit and it did right at 30 minutes. I didn't want to serve the steak with sauce. I tasted some on the spoon in the pan and that just didn't appeal to me. I spooned some on and put the steak under the broiler, flipped and spooned some more on and broiled some more. It thickened it up a bit more it seemed. I ate more than I thought I would. :) I am not certain I would make it again as I came across a bunch of other nice looking steak recipes while I was searching but this was pretty darn good tonight. :)

Very nice photo. Honest reviews are the helpful ones so glad you were. I'm not much of a steak eater and as much as I've tried, I just don't like beer. I think this recipe would work for some but like you say, there's a lot of other recipes out there.

Grilling at 15 minutes/side does seem excessive unless it's done on a very low heat. It is a 3lb steak and if it's cut at 2" or so, I think I could understand.
I agree that the liquid smoke should be upped.

Yes, pso, my total broil time was 15 minutes. Maybe a 3 lb steak on the grill for 15 minutes each side may work. I don't know. I'll betya I never cook a 3 lb. steak. :)

Beautiful picture! I definitely would have used at least 1/2 tsp liquid smoke....ahh it's my weakness. Did you use a dark beer? I never know what "good beer" means but figure it's something dark like shiner. I used to just lightly season my steaks and grill them (that's what the husband likes, not a bad thing though!) but lately I've been experimenting with sauces and toppings. It's fun IMO! Good post ;)

Yep, the liquid smoke needs to be upped, for sure. I used Stella Artois. To me - that's a darn good beer! :)
