Frankieanne's Bean with Bacon Soup

I made Frankieanne's Bean with Bacon Soup last night
Slow Cooker Bean And Bacon Soup
IT WAS FANTASTIC! Really, really loved it and will add it to my regular soup menu rotation! :)
This soup made my kitchen smell amazing the entire day! It makes a lot. I have two crockpots and I put it in the smaller one to begin with but then transferred it to the larger one as I was worried once the beans expanded that I may have an overflow situation. I cooked the soup on low all day long. Probably ended up being 11 hours or so. I actually pureed the entire pot of soup with my stick blender as opposed to just the three cups of beans that Frankieanne had said to mash. Just because I prefer the consistency like that. I loved all the celery, carrots, garlic and onion in there. A very flavourful soup and of course the bacon and the liquid smoke give it just that extra something special. I grew up on Campbell's Bean with Bacon Soup, it was one of my faves, and I am so tickled to now have a recipe that equals that in taste and overthrows it nutritionally. There is 820g of sodium in one serving of the Campbell's canned version!!!!!!! Hubby went back for seconds and even though I just had breakfast, I think I may go warm up a teeny bowl of it right now because it's making me hungry just thinking about it!
One question......Frankieanne, you'd said you serve yours in a bread bowl made with a small loaf of sourdough. I've always wanted to try that out but wouldn't the soup leak through the bun?
Hats off to you. This was really top-notch. Thank you so much!

Oh, gosh, I am so happy you both liked this so much! Thanks so much for the great review and the nice picture. I am thrilled.
When you have been to Fisherman's Wharf, have you ever seen them serve up clam chowder in those little sourdough rounds? This is basically the same thing. Get one of those small rounds and hollow it out, but leave about 1/2" or so on the bottom and side. The birds like the insides leftover or you can use them for something else. :) Be sure you put the round on a small plate and spoon in the soup. I've never had it soak clear through to the bottom before I am done with the soup. They really don't hold that much.
Thanks again. I am so pleased and thrilled.

This is a good one!! I've never personally done a bread bowl but I have had one at a cafe, and it didn't leak through. This is SO much healthier than the can and taste better! I wouldn't have minded pureeing the whole thing like you did Chuckie, but I don't think my family would have enjoyed that...

You're quite welcome Frankieanne. I was thrilled with finding such a great recipe! I've not had anything served in a bun or roll before although I've always wanted to. Same as I've always wanted to make a spinach dip in a bread bowl. I'll have to give it a whirl someday. Am pleased to hear it won't leak out the bottom. I think it'd look so cool served like that.
It was on your recommendation that I tried this recipe ML2C so I have you to thank as well.
Do try it Lori. A total thumb's up from me.

I made this today. This was perfect to come home to, especially after spending the evening cutting up a fallen tree and hauling it off. Added crunched bacon on top since I made the whole pound. I really liked this and will be making it quite often. I love making a pot of beans every other week or so and this will be going into the mix. Thanks, Chuckie for the heads up and Frankie for another great recipe. Added a pic to the collection
