Garlic Grilled Tomatoes

  • mrpiggy 12 years ago
I had 2 softball size tomatoes and didnt know what to do with them. Then I remembered seeing this. Garlic Grilled Tomatoes by Chefmeow It never occurred to me to bbq tomatoes. These had a great flavor. The aroma even attracted the neighbors. A very quick and great tasting snack/appetizer. Would be a great side dish too

I wish the tomatoes that grew in my garden this year were big enough to slice and grill like that. It was so extremely hot and dry this summer and they were small. Those look very tasty. A plating/presentation success!

Thanks everybody. It took 4 attempts to get this photo. The other 2 halves kind of fell apart from being transferred from clean plate to another clean plate to yet another. After eating those, I came back and these had cooled down which I guess helped them stay together long enough for this pic. A guy could starve to death trying to get a decent picture :O I will be grilling tomatoes a lot. These were really good. Made for a great addition to lunch

You sure were determined to get that pic! I'm just glad I don't have to wash your dishes! :)

Seriously, it's great, Mr. P, that you are willing to try new recipes... There are a lot of wonderful and creative cooks here on GR and I think every one of them would agree that cooks practice cooking just like doctors practice medicine... there isn't a time when you know EVERYTHING, don't have some sort of "oops" moment, and can't benefit from a new idea.

That is a lovely photo Mrpiggy! Yes, one could go hungry while trying to get the perfect shot. I usually serve my beau first and then snap pics of my serving but he likes to eat together so I try to work quickly ;-)

Yes, GK I was determined. I wish I didn't have to wash my dishes, but if I leave them in the sink they are still there in the morning, and I hate waking up and having to do them :(

I have learned many things since venturing into the kitchen. Like not to fry bacon without a shirt or socks on. Yep, I learned that one quick. A more recent lesson (actually 2 in 1) is that old welding gloves with a hole in the finger dont make good pot holders, and not to cook stuffed bell peppers on a cookie sheet with no edges. I still dont have pot holders, but I did get a cookie type sheet with edges so things wont roll off :)

DT, thank you. Many times, I run out of patience trying to get a good pic

hehe So maybe your welding gloves don't have a use in the kitchen, but perhaps your welding hood would protect you from bacon spatters? THAT would make quite the photo, with or without natural light. :O

heh, there you go again.. GK,.........OK, I will agree that welding gloves dont go in the kitchen. Kind of like using the kitchen towels to clean my hands after working on the car. But for some reason it just keeps happening. The gloves last. The towels..... not so much :)
