    Individual Smallman Street Fries
I sure had a hard time finding waffle fries. Seems like they were all over the place a couple of years ago. I could only find 11 fries that were big enough for this recipe. I assumed that the chili is supposed to be heated first, so I did that. Cooked the fries, put on the toppings (except for the onions) and returned to the oven to let the residual heat melt the cheese (I used a colby/cheddar blend). Then added the onions. I'm not a fan of sour cream so I omitted that. These are filling! I ate five and will re-heat the others for dinner.

Thanks, Marie. :) Good luck with those waffle fries! What a hunt I had. I was just about to give up.

Try a mandolin slicer to make your own waffle fries. Use one that has a hand protector that does not ride in a track because you have to rotate the spud 90 degrees on every slice to get the waffle effect.

That's one kitchen gadget I don't have. I've priced them but they seem so expensive and I've never thought I'd use one enough to verify the cost. But, yes, I do know you can make waffle fries with them. You're right about that!

I've looked at mandolins at Bed, Bath & Beyond and, even with one of their 20% off coupons, I think they're too much for the little I would use one.

I agree. I don't have one either. Did a cyber space search after reading this string and made a recommendation. I'm sure they can be used for other veggie processing besides waffle fries. I never have had to go past my chefs knife or food processor.

Those look both fun and delicious Frankieanne! Excellent picture! I've seen some neat appy's on Pinterest that call for Waffle fries. Eg. these mini cheeseburger sliders....

I'm not a big sour cream fan either.

I can't wait to make a big pot of chili to make these with the leftovers! I like the green onion idea, but I think I will keep the sour cream on there too :)
Those little fry burgers are cute!

Aww, what cute little cheeseburger sliders. :)
These reheated up nicely in the microwave. Used a fork this time around though.

Pointsevenout, I don't have a food processor or microwave, either. The only thing I'd ever use a mandolin for is scalloped potatoes and I hardly ever make them anymore. When I do, I use a knife to cut the potatoes. They're not all exactly the same size, but it works fine.
