Macaroni In A Bechamel Sauce

Recipe by Lor: Macaroni In A Bechamel Sauce/saved
    A good pasta bake dish.
I did have trouble with the recipe. Instructions don't say when to add the pasta. And it sure as heck won't fit in a 9x12 casserole dish. I used a 10x15 and it all came up right to the lip. Was worried enough to put a drip pan under it but nothing spilled.
Layered it with the meat sauce first then the pasta then the bechamel sauce.
Made home made pasta sauce with garden fresh tomatoes. And used hot Italian sausage for the meat.
I'm not that familiar with bechamel sauce and didn't know if the cheese goes in or on top of the sauce. I put it in the sauce. Directions need clarification.
Used the optional egg. Tempered it and stirred it in before adding the cheese.
I would stir the pasta into the meat sauce mix next time to help the noodles suck up some good flavor.

I don't think three cups of Bechamel and two jars of pasta sauce would fit in a 9 x 12 alone, forget about the other stuff. I guess I don't know what Egyptian food is as this sure doesn't look Egyptian to me. But, it does look filling. Looks like it was pretty successful!

I wonder if Lor actually made this..2 26 oz jars of sauce and 3 cups of Bechamel is quite a bit..it might fit into 2 9x13 baking dishes. It looks very hearty! Love your pics Points! Good job on the recipe with the instructions given!

That is a lot of sauce for 1 dish! Was it a huge sauce ratio to everything else while eating it? Glad it didn't bubble over!

It is a lot of sauce but the sauces are thick. I think the recipe is more about the sauces than the pasta.

I echo previous statements: 2 jars and 3 cups--wow. Was it really sloppy or juicy Points?
So this American-Italian-Egyptian dish only serves 4 people!
A cheese covered mac-n-cheese baked over a bolognaise type sauce sounds good and comforting but I wonder if everything is right here.
Reminds me of the old joke (in my life it is firefighters) of "This recipe makes enough for 8 people or 4 firefighters."

See the picture. It sits up well in the plate. No sloppy, not dry either. Had 5 good size portions already with more left.
