    Monte Cristos
    by Lacrenshaw

The cinnamon & vanilla added to the egg mixture adds a special taste to the bread. What a nice lunch treat! Spooned a little jam on the sandwich as I took each bite...

    *I only used ham
*I used Muenster cheese instead of Swiss
*I used Black Raspberry Jam for the "dipping" sauce but I think the cranberry/maple sauce recipe sounds delicious and I would have made it had I been making more sandwiches

    This sandwich was so good!

My father in law is a huge fan of these sandwiches, but I personally have never made or even eaten one!! Wow those ingredients are interesting, and I love that it has a dipping sauce! Love the post GK!!!

I need to get caught up here! :-)
I haven't had a Monte Cristo in about 25 years! I never thought to make one. I love that toasty looking bread picture. :)

My absolute favorite Monte Cristo is from a local restaurant chain. They batter and DEEP FRY the sandwich! I would never do that at home, but it sure is YUM as a very infrequent treat. (They also sprinkle it with powdered sugar and serve with strawberry jam.)

I think the Monte Cristo I had was deep fried as well. Next time I got out for lunch, I'm going to look for one. :)
