Mr. Piggy....

tried one of my recipes but didn't like it....or, he's not sure if he liked it.... so, since I'm afraid he won't do it, himself, I'm gonna post it, here. :-)

I think he's determined he doesn't like lavender.... which is perfectly fair. It's certainly not for everyone.... it's floral in it's taste and his mind apparently forced him to begin tasting soap. ;-)

He added a lovely picture, though.... and he ventured out to try it! So, good for him!!

Thanks, MP..... now we have confirmed.... you need to stay clear of lavender.... which, I'm pretty sure had been my suggestion, anyway! hehehe

Well. I dont know what to say. For once I am at a loss for words. Thats doesnt happen often.

Yes I did cook this. I made it last night. This recipe was suggested after a comment about lavender. Then a friend gave me a baggie of it. That stuff smells pretty good. After an hour of having it in my office, I had to put it in a small container. It really smelled up the place. Didnt smell like a guys office and that had to change : ) A pillow should smell like that. Not my office!

So I made this using a 2 lb fillet. The temp and cook time were PERFECT...(for me anyway) As I was eating it, somehow the thought of soap entered my mind and I could not stop thinking of soap. I am still trying to decide what I think.

    Are cilantro and lavender related????
    Keni, you're killing me :)

    my pleasure, sweets....

I'm glad the bones of the recipe were okay.... and, yes, having it closed up in the office half the day probably wasn't the best way to be introduced to dry lavender. hehe...and, I can't say for sure if what he had was stronger or anything ....

I'm glad you ate it.... and didn't have to toss it out! that's always a plus. ;-)

and, no, I don't think they are related...but I can certainly get how lavender would remind anyone of soap...or...shampoo.... whatever..... but not my beloved cilantro! hehe

I've seen more than a few recipes out there that use edible flowers as an ingredient. That's still a bridge too far for me.
Yes I see the hypocrisy! Okra and Brussels and Cauliflower and the like.

So since I LOVE cilantro I should love lavender??? Just kidding, I do know what lavender taste like, I grow it in my garden every year. Some people are just very sensitive to certain things (why?? I still don't know ;) so I do agree with not leaving a review Mr P but good o job Keni on coming here with guts for this post!!

(PS was this just a pop in or are you back that fast??)

ML2C, you would probably like lavender. I have a ton of it left and will try it again in something else before I write it off completely. I have not had cilantro in many many years and intend to try that again also. I tend to like fish with not too much on it, except maybe salmon, and after several bites the lavender took over. And that may have all been metal once the thought of soap entered. When I try it and or cilantro next I will try not to think......... I shouldn't have any trouble doing that : )

... yeah, I am just a fan of trying different things.... the lavender doesn't taste soapy to me, it's a lil floral and citrusy ..... and it does go well with lemon. But, I don't love it. I just love being open to trying it. hehehe

And, thanks luv.... he told me, elsewhere, that he tried it.... that the cooking time and temp was right and that the first few bites were okay .... then his brain took over. I could tell he prolly wasn't gonna say anything, here, and I didn't think that was right. It's not really the recipe he's criticizing, he just doesn't like lavender! Of course, even if it IS my particular recipe that's made and not liked for other reasons, I still wanna know! I'm a fan of not having to leave a rating in order to make a comment. I like that. I made a recipe last night from here that is so vague and so open to interpretation ..... I will review it, and explain all I did, here, but I won't leave it a rating. It turned out great and was better than I expected, but how much of that is credited to a recipe that doesn't leave any measurements? hehehe ...

As for my being "here".... I'm not away, away, at this point.... just not around quite as much as I would like to be or I usually am.... so, the avatar is to let people know that so if I don't answer messages or posts, they'll know why. Still was able to make a new dish last night to accompany the one from here, and lookin' forward to 2 new ones for our Easter dinner, tomorrow. Hopefully next week I'll feel enough better to get back to posting and chatting, more. Thanks for the concern.... always appreciated.

    Everyone have a great Easter!

Geez, I go to bed early for once and miss out on a great conversation! :)
I've had lavender and I did like it, but I don't like cilantro so...not sure what the point of that is!, but anyway - it does look delicious, MrP, in your picture.
It was good of you to start the post, Keni. Thanks for that. I love your red X over the lavender. :)

The point I was trying to make here was that I think cilantro taste like soap and lavender reminds me of soap. :P

Who in the world made you eat soap as a child, I presume.

Perhaps he misbehaved often as a piglet and his mother always had a bar of soap handy. :)

hehe, yeh, when I was a "piglet", my mom often didnt approve of the colorful metaphors in my vocabulary. I guess, now, if I say a bad word I can just eat some lavender or cilantro :P
