    Navy Beans Not Ham Soup
I have a cold and its supposed to rain for the next couple of days. Time for some soup. I went to a store I don't usually go to yesterday and asked where the ham hocks were. "Next to the turkey wings" was the answer. Turkey wings!! I remembered I had this bookmarked. They wings were sold in a pack of one wing and one "drumette" for $5.30. Nice! I wanted to use my crock pot so I put it all in and started it before I went to bed. Shredded all the meat and put it back in to heat up while I got ready for work so it all cooked for about 10 hours on low. I took a bunch to work and its a good thing I did as one of my co-workers started drooling when he smelled my lunch and I had to share. :-) I thought perhaps it would need more salt and/or pepper but he said no. I really loved this and I think I will switch from ham hocks to turkey for my future bean soups.

Nice photo, Frankie! Sorry to hear you're under the weather and hope the soup made you feel better. All that onion and garlic should help!

    Nope. No overnight soak, pso.
I do feel better, thank you. I have to say I liked the add of the chicken broth. I usually only use water for my beans. I think the chicken broth added some nice flavor.

Beautiful Picture Frankie! Glad you're feeling better! Thank you for the great review! I am glad your coworker enjoyed it also! I have actually started smoking my own turkey wings. I can get a package of 2 full wings with drumette for about 5 bucks. then I smoke them myself and freeze for later use in my soups. Oh I am so glad someone finally tried this soup with the smoked turkey! Thanks again and am so glad you are feeling better!

Guess this cures a cold as I am nearly recovered today! This made a great breakfast. Nice warm soup on a rainy morning. Thanks for posting this, Semi!
You need to make Rick a pot of this, Marie. :-) I hope he feels better soon.
