From GourmetAna, Peas And Poached Eggs

I picked up some Portuguese chourico today so I'm actually making two of Ana's recipes this weekend! :) Made this one tonight for dinner - so flavorful! And for me, unusual, but I can see where people have mentioned this as old fashioned comfort food like their grandmother use to make. Will make this again!

I have never seen Portuguese chorizo (chourico, linguica as Luisa calls it) only Mexican. Wow there are so many names for that sausage! Eggs are my weakness as a lot of people know...so I am definitely bookmarking this one..your photo makes me want a bowl right now!!

My mind keeps coming back to this recipe. It's so different for me that I can't decide if I want to try it or not. Guess I'll pass it by Mr. Breezy and see what he thinks.
I wonder about it's history. Was your grandma from Portugal Ana? Is this a typical Portuguese dish?
The chorizo I always see in my stores is that (I think Mexican) soft stuff that comes in a plastic tube/chub. Every time I have tried to cook it, it just turns to mush and all but disappears. Thought maybe it was suppose to be a flavoring to mix with burger, but the meat man said no, so... I will not waste money on it again and can't figure it out anyway. I did see Spanish chorizo once and it looked more like a link sausage. I'll have to pay more attention to see if I can find Portuguese chorizo but I may just substitute with a sausage I know we like.

That's the only chorizo I can get around here, too, LB. The soft, mushy stuff in a tube. :-(

Don't you just hate that stuff? I wish someone could explain to me how it is supposed to be used.

I don't understand it either. I even bought it fresh from Whole Foods and it fell apart. I prefer to make this myself and it's VERY easy Mexican Chorizo De Puebla I know this recipe calls for Portugal chorizo, but I have never seen that kind before.

Gee Michelle, I even have that one saved. Guess I forgot, just like most of them in my bookmarks. Thanks for the tip.
