Pleclare's Oven-Fried Shrimp

    Oven Fried Shrimp
I had 1.1 pounds of shrimp to use up tonight and I wanted something quick. This definitely was it. I do think the shrimp could be cooked at 425. I had to cook mine around 10 minutes and they weren't really sizzling hot. I think the extra 25 degrees would take care of that and brown them up a bit better. I had very little breading left, so I was very happy about that. The breading amount is right on as well as the egg whites. They were very good and I ended up eating more than I put in the picture. :)

Those look super yummy Frankieanne! Lovely picture. I'm going to bookmark that. I was going through all my 'tried and true' recipes today and so many of them were Pat's. Miss her lots!

Those look good. Were they crunchy? What did you do with the yokes? Feed them to that Pudgy Munchkin?

Chuckieb, she has so many great chicken recipes. I had to stop bookmarking them. :)
I was afraid someone was going to ask about the yolks. I hate wasting food and I rarely make recipes that call for separated eggs. But, I was in a hurry tonight. My Pudgy Munchkin is pudgy enough - so I threw them away. I hate doing that. I would have saved them for breakfast but I won't have time for breakfast tomorrow due to an early work day. So....
They weren't that crunchy. I think upping the temp to 425 would fix that. They were very tasty though.

I used some pretty good sized shrimp for these. I agree with Frankie that they didn't brown much, but they were very crunchy! I did serve with some homemade cocktail sauce and we ate a ton of them! Thanks Frankie for bringing another one of Pleclare's great recipes to us (if you even remember making it lol)

Oh my gosh. I can't believe you said that because I absolutely do not remember these. Geez. That's scary.
I love your picture. Yours looked different than mine. I think I used shrimp that were frozen and bagged up. I like buying them like that when they are on sale. Were yours fresh? Or maybe its because you left the tails on. I think I read somewhere that if you leave them on the shrimp don't curl up as much.

No, it's only scary when you don't remember what you made last week...not a year ago silly!
I'm guessing the tail does have something to do with the curling. I noticed that a couple times when I cook them with the tails on. I thought maybe I had bad shrimp, but i buy them right off the bay and they tasted fine....never read up on it but I think your right :)

I can't believe the yolks were tossed. Put them in a cup/bowl and cover with water--they'll last a few days. Nice pics both of you. You know I (in my mind) always call Pat - Pie. That's because the l always looks like an i to me, especially with this gray font. Pat LeClare or Pie Clare.

Oh, thanks, ml2c. Whew! :) That's so neat that you can buy shrimp right off the bay! I'm jealous.
Thanks for the yolk tip, Lovebreezy. I did not know that at all!
    Pie Clare. I think that's cute. :)

Oh goodness you made me jealous ML2C when you said "I buy them right off the bay". You are sooooooo lucky! We are miles and miles from fresh seafood. I googled where Santa Fe, Texas was and you're not that far from where my Father in Law winters, Corpus Christi. We went there years ago to see him. Lovely place!
Lovebreezy, I did the same thing with Pat's name on GR. Whenever I saw it I too read Pie Clare. :)
Now you guys have me craving shrimp.

I didn't know that trick with the water either. I usually just save the part I don't use in a small tupperware and throw it in with scrambled eggs the next morning.

Chuckie, we are about 3 1/2 hrs away from Corpus Christi, so not bad!

It works real well when I am cutting down a recipe and only need half an egg. Well that is if the recipe works with just the egg white and a whole egg could change the outcome.
