Reeses Peanut Butter Cups Copycat

Recipe by Halyeesgrandma: Reeses Peanut Butter Cups Copycat
These snacks are good but the peanut butter texture needs some work. It will give you your chocolate and peanut butter fix. But the REAL Reese's peanut butter filling has more of a grainy and sweet texture when melting in your mouth. Research on the 'net indicates using ground Graham Crackers.
I couldn't find any reduced-fat peanut butter, only low sugar. Trips to other stores in search of the reduced-fat peanut butter is warranted. Then maybe the peanut butter to powdered sugar ratio could be shifted a little.
But go ahead and make these to smooth out the dent in your wallet the real deal would make.
Paint the chocolate on evenly and thinly for a good copycat look and feel.
I made these in an 8x8 pan lined with parchment paper and cut them into squares to save me the hassle of fiddling with the paper cups.
Besides the texture the recipe works out very well to the instructions.

Cool recipe! You need to get that camera fixed cause I would have really liked to see the end result, even if they were squares ;)

Sounds great. Although I would probably just use the pb that I always do instead of searching for lowfat. The texture in pb varries from brand to brand somewhat, anyway. Glad you posted these here, I will make this for the grandkids this weekend!! : )

I wonder why the recipe calls for reduced fat peanut butter? Seems like it wouldn't matter.
I'll be glad when you have a camera again, too, pso. I miss those John Deere plates.

Probably has a lot to do with matching the texture better with the Reese's product. I found some reduced fat peanut butter and will be trying these again.
