Roasted Chickpeas

Made these this morning. They are very good and make a great snack. I am a heat wimp so i cut back on the chili powder. This recipe doubles nicely, review on recipe.
Thank you Babsalaba for the recipe. march 12/16

Roasted chickpeas. Added to the list of things I have never tried. :-)
Can you use canned? Which I believe are garbanzo beans, right?

Hi Frankieanne, yes you can use canned and garbanzo beans to my knowledge are the same. This is the first time i made them..

yes, they are the same.Rinse well, and I like to try to get all the "skins" off. I have a recipe somewhere in my bookmarks. I love roasted chickpeas. Hmmm, I have two cans in pantry now. Yum!

I love roasted chickpeas! I never tried to make them at home before. I must try it!

You must have a spicy chili powder? The basic chili powder seasoning I have doesn't have any heat to it. I thought they were all the same, but I guess they're not! ;) The one I have is made with sweet paprika, cumin, garlic, onion and ground oregano.

Thanks for posting, saved to try soon :)

Yep, Frankieanne, chickpeas and garbanzo beans are the same thing. I like garbanzo because it reminds me of Gonzo on the Muppet Show. Silly, huh?

    We have a consensus!
Anyhoo, on one side of the can it says chickpeas and on the other side of the can it says garbanzo beans. Believe I'll fall in with the consensus.
I'm not that fond of them but will eat them when pressed.

Up date on the Roasted Chickpeas:: After i let them cool to put away i ate a few more of them i found they lost their crunch. Could have been my method. The recipe did not say dry or canned and i used dry. Anyway they ended up being a bit soggy.Sorry.

That's too bad Manella. :( I guess they need to be eaten right away? It doesn't say how to store them, bummer. I've read other similar recipes on-line where people said they get soggy after storing them.
I wonder if there's a way to keep them crisp? Maybe a food dehydrator? Hmm..

Garlic Parmesan Roasted Chickpeas . Try these. Cook them longer and toss every 5-7 minutes. Season any which way you like. Next I will be doing a sweet/salty mix. I store them in a small pyrex container w/ plastic lid. And they only last a day or two. They turn out like "CornNuts" for me. mega-crunchy. maybe a few soft. but they are delicious.

I love roasted chickpeas/garbanzos. They do seem to lose their crunch though, so eat as many as you can right out of the oven!
