Remembrance Day/Veteran's Day Monday

    Good Morning Everybody!
Wishing everyone a good Monday! Do any of you participate in Remembrance/Veteran's Day events? With Ottawa being Canada's Capital there is a very large televised Ceremony at the War Memorial right downtown. Mom and I will watch that on the TV. Jim may go over as it's just like a block from his office building.
Not sure what I'm going to make for dinner this evening. But...I am going to start a double or maybe even triple batch of Tina's
Quick Beef Stock For Use In Sauces
which I will then use in Tina's
    Demi Glaze Quick Method
I'd really like to have this made up and in the freezer for when we want a super snazzy sauce for a piece of beef or pork.
Marie...I hope Rick gets all his yummy free meal and coffee, etc. today. :)
Tina....don't do too much today! You need some you time to recharge your battery otherwise it'll run out!!!!!!! :)
Laurie...what were you up to over the weekend? Hope you had a good one.
Joce, hope that battery doesn't give you any more grief! :)
Connie, Laura, Kimmer, Lori, and everyone else who is MIA.....a big wave and hello.

Good morning Janet. We have a ceremony at our War Memorial here as well today. I do watch a bit of the one in Ottawa on TV. I am going to check and see if my car starts again today and drive it to see if it is O.K. Crossing my fingers on that so we shall see.

Sending good luck to Rick on getting all the free stuff today Marie:)
Tina, Get some well needed rest as Janet said to recharge your battery.
Laura, Did you find any useful information yet with the Civil War envelopes?
Hi Kimmer, Nice to see you pop in:)

We are having pork chops for dinner with cooked pineapple rings, cheesy scalloped potatoes and some sort of veggie. I am going to make a couple of soups for me as I have my jaw surgery on Wednesday and I am not sure about what I will be able to eat for awhile? Better safe than sorry in that area I guess.

Well, he's off! Rick has started his Veteran's Day with a free cup of any size, and kind of coffee from Dutch Bros:) I went out earlier to pickup a few things from the store and they were putting the American Flags up along the main street up here..just a beautiful sight...

I don't know what we'll be having for dinner..ground turkey something or other...

Thank you to all who served!

Morning Joce! Your dinner sounds very nice! What kind of soup are you thinking of making? And excuse me because I CRAFT, but.....:) Where do you have to go for your surgery and will you have to stay over or is it just day surgery? Will be thinking of you.
Morning Marie! :) Glad to hear Den has started his day off right. :) Do they put up the American flags in town for Veteran's Day or do they also leave them up for Thanksgiving?
    I've decided to make
    Asparagus Stuffed Chicken
for dinner. Haven't thought of sides yet.

Janet, They put up the flags on most holidays, but not Thanksgiving...Love the sound of asparagus stuffed chicken..I decided on making a Frito Pie for dinner..I found a good recipe on The Pioneer Woman's website I'll adapt to my liking:)

Hello I just woke up before noon! Coffee, I need coffee stat. I fell asleep at five am, couldn't sleep from the ache in my arm.

We have a security guard at work who lines all our drives with precisely placed American Flags. Our Veteran's Memorial park always has a large service at 10:00 am and it is incredibly beautiful sight to see the fields of flags. Liv is home and we are going to take a drive to the park later today and might stop by Blowfish for appetizers.

Marie, love Frito pie. I'm sure The Pioneer Woman has a good recipe. Glad Rick scored a freebie! Thank him for his service.
Joce, sending you good healing wishes......I know what Fred went through and I'm sure you can handle this. Stock up on broth and puddings.
Asparagus Stuffed Chicken is a great looking dish. Janet, I'm happy the quick stock and demi'glaze are a hit. I love the stuff. I cancelled my OT for tomorrow. I have my shoulder to get medicated and looked at, it is impossible to lift my right arm. Happy to hear Benjamin finally got his birthday gift.

I have to make up a grocery list and figure out meals for the week ahead.

Janet, I have made curried butternut squash soup so far today and I am not sure what other type I am making yet. I go to an Oral Surgeon in Kanata and it will be an in and out thing hopefully if all goes well.
Tina, I am glad you canceled your OT for tomorrow in order to have your shoulder looked at and taken care of. Enjoy your appetizers at Blowfish with Liv. Thanks for the tips:) I think puddings would do very for me too and I am going to go get some more Ensure as well.

    Hey all
Still feeling a bit blah, been lurking but brain is a fog so couldn't really focus on what was going on. Feeling better today on the upswing. Saw my primary care physician and she ran a bunch on blood tests to rule out anything else while I'm waiting to get into see the Rheumatologist. I think it's still all related to Hashimoto and thyroid. She suggested a new endocrinologist. I had made an appt with my old endo but he is out of network and its more expensive to see a dr that isn't a Partners doctor. And I couldn't see him until February 27th.
Got two chicken carcasses in water for the makings of stock which will be soup.

Fun on the Frito pie Marie. That picture of the Parade of Flags in Paradise is BEAUTIFUL! Wow! Thanks for showing me that. I LOVE to see other places. That's really nice!
Hoping the coffee is percolating through you now Tina! Going out for appetizers with Liv sounds lovely. My kitchen smells DIVINE! because of your Demi Glaze. Oh my goodness. And for whatever reason, it seems easier and quicker to do this time. :) Guess that's the way right? Glad to hear you cancelled your OT and are getting your shoulder looked at. I did the grocery list/menu thing yesterday myself. :)
Nom on the Curried Butternut squash soup Joce. Glad the surgery is just an in and an out. Is Den driving you?

Hey out there! Just ba k from grocery shopping. Burgers tonight.
Dad started the day with an urgent need to see an ear doctor because he can't hear well. He is certain that if ssomeone would clean them out properly all would be well. His GP doesn't do that but gave us a referral. Called them but all we got was an automTic call system for someone to call us back to make an appointment. Lord knows how long that is goingnto take. Oh well....
On the civil war front we got an call back from the postcard show lead. He gave us two more folks to call. More to come.

I am glad you are feeling a bit better today Laurie:)
Laura, I don't hear well either and sometimes I feel like my ears should be cleaned out and the doctor tells me they are clear? Den has the ear wax problem. If Dad could put up with having a couple of drops of baby oil or olive oil and then some cotton stuff for a little while it will ease any wax out if there is any. You can buy the ear stuff kit as well from the drug store which might help him in the mean time. Good to hear you might have some leads on the civil war things:)
My car started and I drove around for awhile then I popped into a boutique and bought one of my GF's a pair of sterling silver earrings for Christmas.
Janet, Yes Den is driving I think but... I don't think he needs to do that as I will be frozen probably right up to my ears! Knowing him he will though:)

Hi Laurie! Good to see you. Sorry you're feeling blah. Soup sounds good. I think I may make some Turkey Noodle soup tomorrow for Wednesday's dinner. Hope you get some answers to your health concerns. So frustrating when you aren't sure what you're dealing with and how to deal with it!!
Hi Laura! Good to see you too. Hope Dad's ears get fixed up soon. Does he wear hearing aids at all yet?
Glad your car started Joce and good for you getting some Christmas shopping started already! I honestly like to be pretty much done by the time Dec. starts. Then I can properly enjoy the holiday season as opposed to running around shopping! Today I worked on a Photo Calendar for Benjamin for Christmas. I'm having fun but I have sooooooo many pictures and I'm horrible at organizing them so it's a very very slow process!
Chicken's prepped. Wondering what to do for my side. Easy is best. :)

Way too much for just soup so making up the insides of some chicken pot pie, tomorrow I can just throw the crust on and be done. Stupid carbon monoxide detector was malfunctioning and I couldn't get the damn thing to stop beeping and then I just couldn't focus on the task of trying to figure out how to shut it off because the dog was trying to climb inside my womb like I gave birth to her she was so frightened. Finally Becca took her outside and I put a new battery in it (even though it plugs in) and reset it.

We had a very nice lunch at Olive Garden, Rick had Seafood Alfredo Fettuccini, I had Fettuccini Alfredo, Dad had Venetian Apricot Chicken, Mom had Minestrone & a salad..

Janet, you really don't get the full effect of the flags flying unless your driving down the road:) Did you come up with a side dish for dinner???

Laurie, hope your feeling better real soon.

Tina, I relayed your message to Rick, he thought that was really nice:)

Laura, my Dad just had to go see a ENT for his ears..one was infected..he's doing much better since taking antibiotics..hope your Dad gets some relief as well...

Having leftovers for dinner from Olive Garden! I'll make a nice green salad to go with..Frito Pie tomorrow:)

Chose to do baked potatoes as a side.
I too had a nutso Carbon Monoxide detector that died and the battery alarm was theeeeee most annoying thing. I can remember bringing it outside and waaaayyyy far away from the house 'til I went and fetched the manual to figure out how to get it to stop screaming! :) Poor Joy.
Yay! Glad Rick got his Olive Garden Dinner Marie. :) Venetian apricot chicken? Hmmmm....

How did you know it was a malfunction and not a real carbon monoxide problem?
Dad was objecting to the ent guy as soon as we told him we got the appointment he asked for...... he is sure they just want to sell hearing aids. No pleasing him right now. We are going though.

Had a delightful Veteran's Day Ceremony at work. We always do it up good! Have to say, wiped more than a few tears away not only for the Veterans but for my son who is still in Afghanistan. Once the Air Force song played, I lost it!

Thank you to all that served, then and now. We are still free because of YOU!

Ham steaks, mac n cheese and salad was scarfed up tonight. Teenage boys delight!

Sleep free and sweet all......................as always.................

Because it wasn't a straight alarm but a beep every 25 seconds and once I replaced the battery it was fine. But it went crazy when I unplugged it to put the new battery in!

Got the photo album to look thru from the wedding. Love the pics. Gonna be a lot of money to get the shots I want. No Blowfish tonight, we decided to CHILL! Liv is worn out as am I. Grocery List is made for shopping manana. Going to see Angie for nails and then Dr. for shoulder....Fred and I are going out for cocktails at a refurbished 1920's YMCA converted to a new steakhouse and art gallery. IT IS OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive and a drink is all I am willing to pay for the looksee. A side of creamed corn is $8,00 bucks. They offer foie gras and caviar and angry lobster.......a plate of poutine is $10.00. I am so curious to see what they did to the building. http://rococosteak.com/

I can't wait for the cold front predicted on Wednesday. It is too bloody hot for November. Hold me back.....there is a pup up for adoption named Milly. I want to bring her home. Fred says NO!

Fred can not hear and he blames it on ear wax. Dr. cleaned them and he is still impaired. It is so difficult to converse when he misinterprets a statement. I feel your frustration.

Yeah on Olive Garden in coming through! Venetian apricot sounds delicious!!
