Saturday Punnies.....:)

A hungry traveller stops at a monastery and is taken to the kitchens. A brother is frying chips. 'Are you the friar?' he asks. 'No. I'm the chip monk,' he replies.

Old colanders never die, they just can't take the strain anymore.

I relish the fact that you've mustard the strength to ketchup to me.

Good Morning Everybody! I was very much enjoying Tina's amusing puns recently and haven't quite got them out of my system. :)
Rain forecast here today but sometimes it doesn't happen. I'd like to BBQ steak and make the Greek salad that Marie made last night based on her most positive review in IMI. :)
    Incredible Greek Salad
Heading to the Farmer's Market after breakfast and then in to town for a quick spin to the Grocery store and Hardware store. Made up a menu yesterday for the coming week's meals. Have been feeling inspired lately to try lots of new recipes. :)
I wasn't a huge fan of the Holy Yum Chicken. It was 'meh'. :) The Asian slaw on the other hand....WOW I love that stuff. I had two helpings....me...the person who's not keen on vegetables. :)
    Wishing everyone a lovely day.

    Good morning Janet!

Cute puns! Too funny...Great way to start the weekend:)
We loved the Greek Salad..it went very well with our grilled steak & chicken..love fresh veggie salads, especially during the Summer...I love the fact I had enough ripe tomatoes yesterday to use in the salad:) This veg salad recipe of Joce's is excellent as well Marinated Vegetable Salad With Mozzarella Or Feta. I used Feta when I made this..we do love our Feta in salads!
Do let us know what you picked up at the FM!

I need to figure out what to have for dinner..do I feel like going to the grocery store to pick up a can of evaporated milk for the tostada dressing????
Michelle, I as so pleased you liked it..it's is perfect for chicken tostadas, isn't it!

    Wishing everyone a wonderful Saturday!

Morning! Lol at the puns Janet! I know what you mean about the weather Janet! Yesterday evening we had an 85% chance of rain and we got nothing! I say go for that BBQ!! Okay now y'all have me wanting a big bowl of Greek Salad :) Wow on the Holy Yum Chicken being just so-so, it looked delicious! I probably won't be giving that one a try now.
Hi Marie, I agree with you on Marinated Vegetable Salad With Mozzarella Or Feta being delicious! I need to make that again soon.
Today we are going to the French themed family get together. I am making Another, But Yummy, Ratatouille I'm so looking forward to it, it's always a blast! Someone is making French onion soup YUM! And lot's of wine will be involved :) Hope everyone has a great Saturday!

What a cute pic and I love the puns, Janet:) Is that stone sculpture of the deer in your garden? I think it is really cool! Yes I was here and there on Pinterest yesterday, b/c I only had use of my laptop and I hate writing anything with it! It is good news to hear your Mom is thinking of selling her house next Spring. It must be very hard for her to take care of such a big house and property all by herself! I would love to hear Chris Hadfield speak however, I am not at all a big fan David Suzuki at all! David is a good speaker, like Al Gore and many others but he is a hypocrite, along with other things and not respected by the scientific community at all! LOL Enough said, it makes my blood pressure skyrocket, just thinking about him:) I hope it doesn't rain tonight as we are planning on BBQing steaks tonight as well.

Marie, My gosh your parents have sure had a time of it! Yes you are certainly a great daughter, looking after them so well:) I am envying your fresh tomatoes! I hope they are ready here soon!

Michelle, I just found you on Pinterest through Janet and followed you too. My name is Jocelyn Raymond and my avatar in there is the back of one of my son's boats called "Just Crewzin" with a Canadian Flag in it as well. Your family themed French dinner sounds like it will be lots of fun:) LOL when I think of Ratatouille it always reminds me of the animated movie:)

Laurie, I think it is good Frank is thinking of moving into a new job, if he has more opportunities to get ahead in that area:)

Shona, So glad you could drop in and say hi yesterday:) It certainly is good news to hear Colter doesn't have Muscular Dystrophy:) What a relief! Sending all the best to you on successfully selling your house this time and finding the perfect house for you:)

Tina, I love your nails! They are the ones I picked:) I think it is good you are finally going to an endocrinologist now. Hopefully he can find out the source of all your pain! I hope you are feeling better today?

My eye has been acting up along with my IBS and Fibro so, I am going to take it easy today. Den did the grocery shopping this morning. We are having steaks on the BBQ tonight with baked potatoes and a big salad. The new windows look great, but the rest of the house is in total disarray! It is going to stay that way for awhile too, until I am able to get it all painted. LOL It might take the rest of this century for it to be done?

Hoping everyone has a great day!

Hi Marie! I got two little baskets of cherry tomatoes, one basket of big red tomatoes, a cucumber and a half dozen cobs of corn at the Farmer's Market.
Michelle, you very well may adore the Holy Yum chicken. Everyone's tastes are so varied. It was good. Jim even went back for a second piece but it wasn't that great to us that I would bother making it again. If you really like Dijon mustard then you will very likely quite enjoy the recipe. I'm not a huge Dijon fan. I'm going to use up the leftover chicken in a nice big roll for lunch. I bought some nice oat/wholewheat buns, and I'll use a tomato, onion slices and fresh lettuce with a big dollop of mayo. Should be yummy. I'm very much envying you your French dinner. I love stuff like that. Sounds like so much fun. Enjoy! And tell us all about it tomorrow! :)
Hey Joce! So good to see you! It wasn't until this morning that I remembered you were having your windows done yesterday. Glad to hear you're pleased. Did you get them all done? We noticed a decent savings on our heating bill the first winter after we had the new windows installed. Much more insulated than the old ones! No, I'd love if I had a nice sculpture like that in my garden but it's located by an office building down on Albert St. I walked by it on Wed. when I was out for lunch with my friends. Pretty eh! Sorry to hear your eye is still giving you problems and you IBS and Fibro too. Indeed, take it easy. Are you painting the whole entire house? That's a huge job. I like the results from a paint job but I'm not the keenest on doing the painting. :) Nice that Den did the shopping.
I had a blast at the Grocery store. Got all sorts of fun ingredients to cook with this coming week. Tomorrow I think I'm going to make this seafood plate, a recipe of Jamie Oliver's. It called for "Passata" which I had never heard of before. And sure enough....Sobey's had it. Infact they had at least two different brands. I was most impressed. Passata appears just to be strained tomatoes.

Decided on Pizza Casserole for dinner..I'm going to use my oven even though it's going to be a hot day...thank goodness for A/C:) Rick does have some leftover steak so I thought I would halve the pizza casserole recipe..I only have 1 tube of biscuits anyhoo..sheesh:-D I did pickup some condensed milk for chicken tostadas for tomorrow..I just got back fro a local Vet up here, the Girl Scouts were having a SPCA drive for items for cats & dogs..I found some towels and also took a bag of cat food..I sure hope they do well today!!! Yea Girl Scouts!

Michelle, how very cool..a French themed dinner:) Sounds like such a good time!

Janet, score on the fresh veggies! Love Jamie O's recipes:)

Joce, so sorry to hear your eye is still giving you problems..along with IBS & Fibro...I sure hope you feel better very soon my dear... I love our fresh tomatoes, but they are coming on very slowly..that's why I halved the Greek Salad recipe yesterday:(
My parents are thinking of having their house painted as well..I was SO relieved to hear I wasn't going to be the one doing the painting..LOL They are going to get some bids..whew...I remember the days of Dad doing everything..roofing (yep, I was up there with him), and when we first came to Chico, they bought a big 2 story Victorian house..guess who painted it? Dad, I was too young to help!!! Whew again:-D

Well, now it's time to get lazy!!!

I have never heard of "Passata" before either, Janet. It looks and sounds like a pizza or pasta type of sauce. I love how Jamie cooks:) We are hoping to have the whole inside of the house painted and it is going to be a big job! A good thing the basement is almost all done in pine, so we won't have to to that as well! We had the bay window, four basement windows and two bedroom windows done. We will have them finish the rest of the windows and the patio door next year. We might see a bit of improvement on our heating bill, but probably not very much. The old windows were triple insulated, but were over 25 years old. The new ones have a transferable life time warranty, which is good:) You scored a bunch of yummy things at the Farmer's Market! When I feel up to it, I must take a run over to my Farm Kids Stand and pick up a bunch of things. I think the antibiotics are disrupting my system at the moment? I have a call into my Eye Guy, but he has not responded yet! I have a feeling he does surgery at the General on Saturdays? I am sure he has many other emergencies he has to handle first. My infection isn't too too bad and maybe I am just being impatient? I just ate the sweetest cantaloupe! Mmm good!

Janet, fresh greens will be perfect with your dinner:) Yum:)

Joce, I don't think you're being impatient at all...you should not have to go thru any discomfort. I'm glad you have a call in to your doctor..I hope he gets back to you soon:) I liked the pizza casserole the last time I made it and it sounded good because I've been craving pizza:)
Yes! Good luck to the Girl Scouts..they also had some cats & dogs up for adoption..I just couldn't bring myself to look at any of them..."Oh look what I found Rick..another kitten!"
I hate to say it, but with these 3 we have, they REALLY are our limit! LOL Until we get our huge farm house with acreage anyway..then we'll have animals galore!

I know how much you love going to your Farm Kids Stand Joce. You'll feel better soon. I'm pleased you called your Eye Dr. It's important to act straight away and get it looked at. You are not being impatient whatsoever. You've been a week now recovering from this infection and it should be getting better not more annoying! Yum on your cantaloupe. Love cantaloupe. :)
I'd be staying away from the Cat and dogs up for adoption as well Marie. If I got engaged with them in any way we'd be in trouble.
Just made Hummus for the very first time ever and had a lot of fun. It's pretty darn yummy. Followed this recipe:
    http://toriavey.com/toris-kitchen/2013/06/roasted-red-pepper-hummus/
Was supposed to buy tahini paste at the grocery store and it was on my list but it was the one ingredient.....yep, you guessed it....that I came home without! Argh! So Jim said "What's in Tahini paste" and I looked it up and thankfully had sesame seeds on hand so made my own. Take that One Ingredient Short Fairy! Muah ha ha ha ha......:)
A little worried about Tina. :(
