Stuffed Crust Sunday

    Good Morning Everyone!
I came across the pictures below of Pizza bed sheets and a Pizza sleeping bag and it tickled my fancy. :)
    Going to make
    Rotisserie Marsala Chicken
for dinner this evening. I got it in the brine last night. Holy garlic Batman but it smells wonderful. :)
We got all the firewood neatly stacked in the garage and as we say every year once the job is done "It's like having a full fridge". You feel good knowing you have a nice heat source for the upcoming winter.
Running a couple of errands today. Need to pick up the carpet we brought in to be cleaned, buy some Hot Tub supplies and I may bring Jim for lunch to that restaurant I went to with my girlfriend on Thursday "Fusion". They had squid on the menu and he adores Squid. (Ugh)
And I finally heard from Benjamin. Hurray. I'd had no information for the past week and I was getting antsy. :) As I suspected he's been busy between work and his social life. :)
Cool on the Pear tree and the Pear Jelly idea Laurie. No help with any recipes sorry.Hope you had fun out with your girlriends.
So sorry to hear about Ezra Karen. :(
Sounds like you were getting quite the wicked weather Tina.
And what about you Marie, did the sprinkles turn into a shower? Cool on your '68 Corvette. My Grade eight History teacher drove a black corvette to school and all us girls thought he was very dashing. :) Glad to hear your parent's cat has been out on the golf cart again. (What's the cat's name?)
Michelle, can't wait to hear all the news about the Coloured Menu. :)
Joce did you get your trim painted?

Janet, The Pizza sheets and Pizza sleeping bag are Hilarious! I think they would scare me to death, if I had to sleep in them though! Great to hear you have all the wood in and are ready for the cooler weather. I was drooling over the Calamari on the "Fusion" menu as well the other day. It is nice they do Take-Out as well there. What sort of supplies do you require for a Hot Tub? Do they need much maintenance? I don't know much about them other than just being in one. Good to hear you heard from Ben and to know he is keeping himself busy. I also forgot to ask if you heard anymore from the doctor in Rainy River? I had my doubts as you did about your Mom's medical needs being taken care of there, instead of here as well. I am hoping she will change her mind and maybe come back here to get her stent out. All the times she had it out or in before, she had it done in a hospital (not a clinic) where they kept a good eye on her, until she was good to go. I know it is very worrisome for you! I hope everything get straightened out for her soon in that area. Your Rotisserie Marsala Chicken should be awesome for dinner tonight!

Karen, Aww I am sorry to hear about Ezra:(

Laurie, The Pear Tree where Frank works is quite amazing. What a great article! Sorry don't have any ideas for you. I have never done anything with pears except poaching them for desserts like this.

    or this
    http://www.thekitchn.com/spice-and-honey-poached-pears-111964

Marie, WOW! You had a 1968 Corvette as well! WOW! I didn't know you were married before either!
I don't think you ever mentioned that before? LOL I had a 1963 Corvair Monza does that count:) It was a great car Ralph Nader tried to get rid of them as being dangerous along with Volkswagens and I loved my Volkswagens as well! A man down the street from us has a 1963 convertible Corvair Monza and I love to see him out with it in the Summer months. It brings back good memories for me:) Nice to hear your parents cat is back enjoying the golf cart again:)

Michelle, How did the Colour Themed Dinner go?

Tina, I haven't heard about sugar being put in gas tanks for years! What an awful thing to do!

    Shona???

Laura, Come on down and say hi!
You too Corrine! I miss you:(

Ang, Dahlia, Lori, Brook, Connie, Wendy, Donna, MichelleB and anyone else I am missing? Forgive me please. Drop in and chat for awhile or just say hi.

If you haven't heard about the Great Dane puppy who survived after eating 43.5 pairs of socks.
    Here is the amazing story.
    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/09/04/dog-eats-43-socks-photos_n_5765808.html
I don't know how the owners didn't miss some of them and wonder?
We did get the little bit of trim painted yesterday. It was just trim around the older windows which looks much better now. They will be replaced next year then we won't have to to any more painting on the house once we have them put in. Doing laundry today and I have been up since 3:30 AM! LOL I was outside at 7:00 AM fertilizing the lawn. On the directions it said to put it down when there was still dew on the ground. We are having Prime Rib Roast Beef for dinner with all the trimmings including Yorkshire Pudding. At the moment I am waiting on a decision for Den about what he wants for Sunday Brunch. I am going to bet toasted bacon and tomato sandwiches or poached eggs on toast with bacon at this point in time.

    Wishing everyone a wonderful day!

LOL Joce...I agree with you. The pillowcases on the bed distress me a little. LOLOL. We need some chlorine and some shock for the Hot Tub. Jim is the 'pool boy' :) and does all the maintenance so I'm not even sure all the things he requires but I know those are the main two. He buys a filter cleaner solution as well as the water cycles through a filter on a regular basis so you need to clean the filter regularly. He's pretty much got it down to a science now as we've had the Hot tub for quite a few years. Yes, I did hear from Mom's Dr. in RR. He basically told me he already had a call into the Specialist in Winnipeg to try and get Mom in asap. It's unfortunate that the information isn't relayed to Mom initially as it just gets her all worked up. And thus, I get worked up cuz she's worked up. :) The medical care there sucks period. The town has three part time Dr.'s. They fly in and out every couple of weeks. There is no cohesiveness and if a message isn't relayed (and it often isn't) then footballs get dropped so to speak. Mom won't come back to Ottawa for her medical issues unless something major happens. And she will be having the stent out/in in a Hospital in Winnipeg once the stupid appointment gets made. Rolling eyes. Ugh on being up since 3:30. LOL @ you being out fertilizing your lawn by 7. :) Oh my goodness your dinner sounds absolutely fabulous! I have some leftover roast beef in the freezer. Once I had basically a hot beef in a restaurant but with yorkshire pudding instead of bread. I should think about doing that. I have vowed to try not buy any more food (meat basically) until I get my freezer quantity down. I keep seeing deals and buying them but with there only being 2 of us I'm buying faster than we eat! :) I know....1st world problems right? :)
We had Cheesy scrambled eggs with onion and toast on the side for brekkie. Jim is out working on his rock wall. Fabulous fall day!

Phew! I am delighted to hear you heard back from the Dr. in RR:) I was very worried about her stent not being taken out until December! Nice Jim does all the stuff with the Hot Tub. Den doesn't want one b/c of all that:( My doctor has a very cool place where she lives and has her office out in the country, not far from me. She is building another big addition called the Aqua Retreat. She already has a Fitness and Medical Spa which is amazing! I want to go to see the Aqua Retreat when it is finished. Here is the link to all the things she has already! http://tayriverreflections.com/
I don't know how she does it, really? She is the Head Doctor at our Hospital, has all her appointments with patients, works night shifts as an emergency Physician at the hospital and runs this fabulous Spa! She is maybe in her early forties by now and it a wonderful doctor. We are very lucky to have her here:)
Your brekkie sounds delicious! Den has decided on toasted bacon and tomato sandwiches for brunch. Easy peasy and the tomatoes are so tasty this time of year. LOL I know what you mean about a packed freezer:)

Karen, I am so sorry to hear about Ezra:( That breaks my heart....

Janet, Yea! All of the wood is stacked! You are so right, it feels good to have wood for the upcoming Winter..we have it neatly stacked on the front porch..Tippi finds it very cozy..her own personal little kitty fort:) She is such a snot! Sweet, but snotty ..Our little snotty Siamese:) Love the pizza pics! Crazy!
Mom & Dad's cat is named Tinker..as in Tinkerbell..LOL We just call him Tink for short:)

Joce, ahhh, yes, I was married before..straight out of high school, I was 18..it lasted for 8 years. After the divorce I went back to work, and stayed single until I was 40..I met Rick when I was 36..we married in 1997. Second times a charm! LOL
A Corvair? Rick had a 62 Corvair when he was younger! LOL Then he had a Firebird when he was in the Air Force..I think that thing got 6 MPG! Muscle cars are a thing of the past..no one cared how many MPG you got, what mattered was how fast you could go:)
    Brings back memories..good times..and we're still alive..:)

    I'm not sure about dinner?????

Morning! Lol at the pizza covers! The bed comforter one would kind of gross me out after a while though. That chicken looks so good! That's cool that you might take Jim back to that Fusion restaurant. I do like fried squid, but not the little tentacle pieces, just cause of the way they look. Good that you heard from Benjamin and that he's just super busy :)

Joce, omg it doesn't sink in how much 43 ½ socks are until you see them all laying out in the picture lol! That's good that you got your trim painted up yesterday, there's nothing like a fresh coat of paint!! Wow on being up since 3:30 AM! Did you purposely do that, or could you not sleep? Your dinner sounds FABULOUS!!

Last night was fun!! So I made the brown ribs, which turned out to be the most tender that recipe has ever turned out (YAY)! My mom made this recipe for blue
    http://paleomg.com/bake-sticky-berry-bars/
and I was so surprised at how great it was!! My MIL had orange so she made roasted sweet potatoes tossed with cinnamon, honey and cayenne pepper! Omg that was delicious. Yellow was my SIL's mom's color she made yellow spaghettie squash tossed in butter and herbs, very good. My SIL had black which she ended up making olive tapenade, with veggies for dipping and some blackened shrimp to go with the ribs, for surf and turf. Both were amazing. So as you can see everything was delicious :)

Today I am going to lunch with my dad, not sure where. I don't even know what is for dinner tonight, I was going to make Janet's Guy Fieris Chicken W Salsa Verde but I didn't realize the meat market was closed on Sundays!! Grrrr. I do want to make something with chicken though so I will pull some out and figure out what to do with it later! Guy Fieris Chicken W Salsa Verde will be put on hold until next weekend :) Hope everyone has a great day!!

That spa looks wonderful Joce. And your Dr. does sound like one in a million. You're lucky for sure.
Tink is a nice name for a cat. :) I think you'd said Rick's back was bothering him the other day Marie? Is he feeling better now?
That's great your ribs were such a success Michelle! Those berry bars are a) beautiful and b) so clever as a blue food and c) isn't that so sweet she made something Paleo friendly as well! The dinner sounds so great and I love the tapenade as the black food. Very ingenious!

Janet, I want that pizza sleeping bag. What a neat idea. I'd never fit in it, but I'd hang it on the wall as art. LOL Good for you on the wood stacking. A job done well is a nice feeling. I hope you have a nice lunch at Fusion. Yummy on Rotisserie Marsala Chicken Glad you heard from Benjamin. (I hear you on the busy kids and not checking in).

Liv fell after work and landed on her tailbone. (Slipped in an oil spill) She can barely sit. She has decided to spend the next 10 hours in a car on a drive to Alabama to visit Scotty's family for one day. I think it is absurd. She has to be at work at 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Today is a lovely day outside. Sunny and clear skies. I expect rain later. I have more plans on filling up the freezer. I got two pans of cabbage rolls yesterday. (Janet, I had to roll in them in the dark....they are the wonkiest looking rolls, not exactly consistent.) We didn't get any for dinner last night, the power was off so long, we ate sandwiches. I put away a quart of both soups, a quart of chicken broth, two pints of rotel gravy, 2 bags of shredded chicken, a layered tortilla bake with black beans and corn. Today is meatloaf, hamburger layered noodle bake, chili and empanadas. Hopefully. Depends on energy level.

Have a lovely Sunday, my friends.

Marie, I was married at 18 as well and it lasted for 13 years. I was a single mother for many years, and went back to school several times. I did not get married again until Den in 2004. We will be married 10 years this coming October 14th:) We lived together for a few years before we were married though. Yes we didn't care about MPG back then. Neat Rick had a Corvair too:) Mine was totaled, when a stupid driver without a license new to the country, drove right into the rear end of it and put the engine literally in the back seat! He actually drove away and fled the scene! I wasn't driving it, my first HB was and my first MIL was in it as well. Even the metal supports for the bucket seats where broken. No one was hurt fortunately. I miss that car:( It was great in the winter with the engine being in the rear end. I went to see it after it was compacted at the junk yard, and cried b/c my favourite umbrella was still in there! Funny the stupid things I remember eh!

Michelle, LOL when you see all those socks. I wonder how they could blame them all missing on their dryer? All those creative dishes sound amazing! I love the sounds of the roasted sweet potatoes tossed with cinnamon, honey and cayenne pepperand the yellow spaghetti squash tossed in butter and herbs! DOUBLE YUM! Did you get the recipes for them? Great idea for the black using black olives for the tapenade for dipping and OH MY GOSH! Blacken Shrimp to go with the ribs and blueberry bars to top it all off! You had a wonderful feast! My mouth is watering just thinking about it! Have a good lunch with your Dad and enjoy the rest of your day:)

His back seems to be ok this morning..he used a heating pad last night and that seemed to help. He'll take a couple of Aleve before the job tomorrow for sure.

Joce, your Doctor sounds like a real gem!
WOW on your dinner!!!! I'm NOT going to tell Rick what your having! LOL
I'll check out that link here in a bit..poor doggie!!!

Michelle, sounds like you had the best time! Sp glad your ribs were a hit!

I'm leaning towards Salisbury Steak Deluxe for dinner..of course I'm out of bread crumbs and mushrooms:(

Oops! SP! To Janet and Tina as well!

Ouch! poor Liv, Tina! I hope she has a soft cushion to sit on for that long drive? LOL She is young and will get over it:) I can't even imagine myself rolling cabbage rolls in the dark! Holy! You did very well with everything you did yesterday and you are making me even hungrier!

Marie, No bread crumbs? Could you make some? LOL @ you being short and ingredient or two:) I know I would love Salisbury Steak Deluxe Den detests horseradish though:(

    SP'd a whole lot! :)
OUCH on Liv falling on her tailbone. I've done that a couple of times in my lifetime and that hurts like Hell! I don't think I'd be wanting to sit for ten hours in a car at the best of times and certainly not right after hurting myself. Unless there's such a thing as a cold soft pillow? :) Oh no on you having to roll cabbage rolls in the dark. You may start a new trend in cabbage roll styling? :) Holy you sure did a lot of cooking yesterday! Good luck today but don't push it! I keep trying to remember your 'phrase' for when you put lots of goodies into the freezer for meals later and I can't for the life of me think of it. Help me someone! :)
That's an awful accident your first husband and MIL had Joce!
Glad Rick's back is improving Marie. He has a job that is hard on the old body! I'm sure you could leave out the mushrooms without it being that noticeable in the Salisbury steak Marie, or sub some sort of other veggie for fun? Plus I'm sure you could easily make up some breadcrumbs out of either bread or crackers or croutons that you'd have on hand.
Brought in quite a few more cherry tomatoes from the garden.

    SP Tina & Joce!

Tina, ON NO on Liv falling! That is soooo painful! Please tell her to take care and I sure hope she gets better soon!

Joce, I usually make my own breadcrumbs..maybe I could do that..just more work for this old gal..LOL Joce, I'm certain you could just omit the horseradish in that recipe..Rick loves the stuff..ummmm, do I have horseradish?

Janet, Well, I thought his back was better, he said it still feels "pinched" and he's walking kindof funny..my poor fella. He sure has noticed his body showing signs of working hard all of his life..his knees, back etc. He's only 52, but has been doing this for 30 years..Too bad he can't retire:)
I need to pick some stuff up at the grocery store anyway so I'll include breadcrumbs & mushrooms:)

    SP is rampant!!!
Investment Cooking, Janet. I'm determined not to call out for pizza. I've done it too many times lately. Today is definitely getting a slow start. My right leg is very swollen today.

All the car talk is definitely bringing up memories. My older sister's best friend had a Corvair and I remember riding in the back seat and freaking out because I could see the ground through the floorboard. It rusted out and I was terrified of being in the back seat. My sister drove one of Dad's older Cadillacs. She hated it as a big boat of a car until she used it for taking all her friends to the drive-in. She could stuff that car full of teens. When Sherida had to babysit her bratty sisters, we would go to the movies, but we weren't allowed to raise our heads over the back seat and show ourselves. LOL No wonder I don't like scary movies, I listened to all the gory drive-in movies in the early sixties. Listening to all the screaming made every movie worse.....however, I think the worst was 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?' and not seeing Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor. Traumatized me for life.

Michelle, I love your menu and supper from last evening. Everyone was extremely creative and how nice to have a fun night. I love your theme night tradition, totally cool. Have a fun lunch with your dad.

Joce, Fred would be in heaven with your roast and yorkshire pudding. Thank heavens no one was hurt in the demise of the Corvair. Sorry about your umbrella. Don't you love the tangents our conversations flow in and around in ODD? I love it.

Janet, I hope that things will work out for your mother and her stent. I know long distance worrying is not fun for you at all. I trust you are out to lunch. Manga!

Marie, happy to hear Tink is back in the cart! Sorry the missing ingredient fairy has struck again. Salisbury steak is such a good comfort food. I do hope Rick gets some back relief. And I agree with you 100%, getting old is NOT for sissies. I consider my limp a badge of courage. Hugs, dear.

    Hey everyone
We are having a beautiful day here. It's in the 80's. Gotta love New England weather!
I'm sitting on my deck not looking at the ugly pool cover and pretending it's still summer. :). Rachel has another UTI so she didn't do her walk that she register d for this morning. It's a 5k sponser d by chamber of commerce and her whole field hockey team was walking. We went to dr's instead and then had to wait for script.
Tonight's dinner is turkey kielbasa baked beans and rice.

SP Marie!! Lol at the your parent's cats named being Tink :) Wow at all of you who were married so young! I guess I'm not far behind everyone being married at 23. Sorry Rick's back is in pain today :( Michael is ALREADY having back problems and my Step Dad has had back problems as long as I can remember, I think it just eventually happens to everyone. I agree with Joce, make the bread crumbs!

Janet, is was very sweet that my Mom decided on the Paleo dessert, and I was very surprised that she got it from one of my very favorite Paleo blogs!! I think everyone was a little shocked about how delicious it was!

Sorry to hear about Liv Tina. And then on top of that having to sit on a hurt tail bone in a car for 10 hours!? Crazy! Ugghh on the power going out, especially in the middle of rolling up those rolls! Good job on getting that freezer full, you are doing one heck of a job :)

Joce, the recipe for the olive tapenade that my SIL used was this one:
    http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Tapenade/Detail.aspx?event8=1&prop24=SR_Title&e11=tapenade&e8=Quick%20Search&event10=1&e7=%2fmy%2frecipebox%2fdefault.aspx&soid=sr_results_p1i1
but she did half black olives and half kalamata. It was SO good! I'm not sure about the other recipes I think the spaghetti squash was just LOTS of butter, thyme, parsley, S&P.

Lol at not looking at the ugly pool cover Laurie. That's too bad Rachel had to miss her walk, UTI'S SUCK!!

We went back to Quaker Steak and Lube for lunch today. I love that place, they have awesome food and it's like a sports bar/restaurant so there is TV's everywhere so we got to catch the beginning of the Texans game and then ZOOM home during commercial break to watch it at home :) Here is the website if I forgot to post it last time we went
    http://thelube.com/locations/texas/league-city/
I got the Lube Chicken Sandwich minus the cheese and bun and nixed the fries for steamed broccoli :) We came back to the house and my Dad left at half time. Right now we are winning 14-10...nerve racking! I have decided on dinner Orange And Cumin Braised Chicken with roasted veggies. Wish I had cauliflower to make cauliflower rice, oh well!

Back from Lunch and errands. Very productive. Lunch was great. Jim really liked it. Went to Farm Boy. I'm guessing the lime shortage is over? I got 5 gorgeous ones for $1. Got some really nice big leeks too and also another pumpkin! :) A green one this time. Very cool. And...they are selling Erin Phillips new cookbook which I grabbed a copy of
    http://www.barlowbooks.com/erin-phillips--korey-kealey.html
Erin Phillips is the wife of Ottawa Senator Hockey player Chris Phillips and you know how big a Sens fan I am! It's actually got some really nice recipes in it so I'm quite tickled.
Went to Costco and actually filled up our second propane tank even though I just filled our other one last week. Whoooaaa on actually having a real true back up! :) This should carry us through 'til spring I'd expect. And Costco was super nuts busy. Like crazy silly busy. On my way out I heard someone say "So you don't say hello anymore Janet?" and I turned around and it was one of my old customers from the Hardware store. We had a super nice chat and catch up and he made me feel so good. He said "They really miss you at the store you know" to which I retorted "GOOD!". :)
Bought some fresh corn on the cob from a roadside vendor as a side to our Rotisserie Chicken. Jim has sat down to watch a bit of foot ball. Bets on how quickly he falls asleep (still battling the time change)
Your knee Marie (hey...that rhymes!) :) and Rick's back...ai yi yi. I like Tina's badge of honour analogy! :)
INVESTMENT COOKING! Thank you Tina! It's been bugging me for two days now! I ended up googling Corvair as I couldn't picture it. Very cool car. Aw on Sherida not letting you guys look over the seats at the Drive Inn. LOLOL. Again, a reason I'm so glad I was an only child. :)
Soak up those rays Laurie. Poor Rachel. Those hurt. Hope she feels better asap. Your dinner sounds great and very summery! :)
I remember that Lube restaurant from when you've been in the past Michelle. It sounds very fun! I'm still full from lunch but peeked at the menu anyway as it's a fun one. I choose
Pick-Up Pickles Crisp pickle spears coated with
Italian breading, deep fried and served with spicy Lube Jalapeño Ranch and
    BACKFIRE BOOM BOOM SHRIMP
Crunchy Panko breaded shrimp coated with garlic and
    red chili Boom Boom sauce.
Everyone's day needs a little Boom Boom sauce don't ya think? :)
I bow to your willpower foregoing the bun, cheese and fries.
    Married at 21. I felt a lot older. :)
What a lovely afternoon it is. Just gorgeous!
