Thirsty Thursday

  • notyourmomma 8 years ago
Sorry I was off line so long. My legs quit. I could not stand on my own. I had the hunky fireman help me get up from my chair. Liv couldn't pull me up alone. So I've been in bed wracked with leg cramps. My calf muscles are rock hard and my toes are curled under. I have resurrected Ty's overhead lift and have it over the bed to pull myself up. I have doctor's appointments ahead. She worked hours and hours over the Memorial day weekend and I just couldn't ask her to schelp the computer to me. I had a thermos of broth and cheese and crackers.

Had to pay the pool man. He found the leak. $275.00 and we are patched and ready to go.

I have to go back and read the other threads. I want to read the book Laurie mentioned,
The Lightning were a disappointment and our last chance is Friday. Olivia is going to get a massage today.

I hope all are well. Chat more later.

Tina, my goodness, I wish there was something I could do for you. It is frustrating living so far away. Do see the doctor soonest! Broth is one of the best things you can have - you need to stay hydrated, esp. if you have the muscle cramps.

Keep us posted. Take care. You are in our prayers.

Glad you touched base Tina. I was getting worried! Hope the Dr.'s appointments are SOON! Good the pool leak is fixed. Sometimes a Hockey team just loses its mojo for a game. They've been playing very, very well so your job is to CHEER LOUDLY! :)
    Morning Karen!
Have friends coming over for a cup of tea in just a bit. It's drizzling outside. Yay! Haven't figured out what to make for dinner yet.
    Wishing everyone a great day.

SP Tina on your second post.

Hi, Janet! This morning for a change it is NOT raining. Cloudy, but the rain is temporarily gone, gone, gone!

Wayne's buddy is working out of town and GS is swamped with school work so we are ALONE TODAY! Yippee! We are going to go out for dinner this evening. Youngest GS has a swimming competition this weekend so we also have Sunday to ourselves.

The chiropractor treatment Tuesday made a big difference. Still feel good. Am walking better. I told Wayne when we go to Church Convention this summer I will insist on a treatment the day before leaving! Ha!

    See you later.

Morning! So sorry to hear you are having so much trouble Tina :( Hope your doctor appt. will help you out some. Pickle juice helps with muscle cramps, well any cramps.

Yay on having some alone time Karen. Glad the chiropractor worked out for you :)

I was nausueos (sp?) all day yesterday and thought I was coming down with something, but I feel much better today. Not much going on, just going to take it easy and make sure I'm all better. Leftovers tonight of the ham and potato soup, which was delicious by the way. Wishing everyone a great day!

The inability to stand is awful. The walker helps but it doesn't reach every area of the house. Thanks for the kind wishes.

I pulled a pork tenderloin out two days ago and it is still frozen in the middle. Hopefully I can roast it to be edible. Olivia found a key lime dressing that is delicious. I thought it would be good on sliced avocados for our salad.

Michelle, happy you are feeling better. Your soup sounds good.

Karen. how are the chicks? Love the kitty tales.

Have a good visit with your friends, Janet. I'll cheer louder tomorrow. Scares the dogs silly. LOL

How awful, Tina! Cramps in the legs and feet are usually from a lack of calcium. I know you don't drink milk and eat too many dairy things. Do you have any calcium pills you can take? Glad the pool guy found the leak. Your new pool isn't very old is it still under a warranty? They should know about it anyways. Take care and try to keep moving the best you can GF. HUGS)))

Enjoy your tea with your friends, Janet. We keep missing the rain for some unknown reason?

Yes take it easy today, Michelle, we don't want you coming down with anything. Your soup sounds yummy to me. I never heard of pickle juice helping cramps? I will make a not of that.

Glad your chiropractor helps you, Karen. I went to one a few years ago and he made me feel worse than before. Enjoy your kid free day:)

Shona, How is Jersey doing and how are you doing?

Laurie, Loved the cute gold sandals they gave you. Today is the day you renew your vows isn't it? Have a most marvelous day! I love seeing all the pics on FB too!

Sending a belated Happy Birthday wish to Rick, Marie. I hope you are not working too hard today.

I was able to get a few more things planted and finally put the big pot of flowers out front and it looks much better now. I have only a few more plants to plant and then I have to root out a flower bed and get it looking a bit better too. LOL Then there is always weeding to do. We are having spaghetti and meatballs for dinner with garlic bread an easy dinner for me.

Hoping everyone has a good day!

Where are you going to go out for dinner Karen? Glad the Chiropractor did you some good.
Sorry to hear you weren't feeling well Michelle. Indeed, take it easy today and make sure you're over whatever was trying to get you! I'm so going to try out that soup recipe.
Neat on the key lime dressing Tina. I've never had that.
I bet your yard looks beautiful Joce! Yum on spaghetti and meatballs.
I've gotta run down to see what speaks to me in the freezer otherwise it'll be too late to defrost something for dinner!

Michelle, I never heard of pickle juice helping cramps. Hmmm! Wonder if it is salt or vinegar in it that helps?? I found that putting lavender essential oil on my ankles helped with foot cramps, and read that magnesium and potassium were also important. I guess whatever works is the thing to use.....for the occasional muscle cramp. Hope you feel better.

Tina, the chickies are in need of a cleanable chicks box so we are going to go to Orscelns next week to see what they have in stock. They are all of one week old now. Still crossing our fingers. We have put off getting a rooster until they are all bigger. Two bratty kittens are on my lap. Trouble is asleep like a good little soul, and Mauser is fighting sleep and batting the iPad screen, chewing the leather cover and generally being bad...ha ha! She is the worse to litter box train and I just spotted a flea on her. They are sort of young for commercial stuff but I will Google it.and look for some natural remedies safe for little brats.

Joce, we missed most of April rains but May sure made up for it. Hoping for three or four dey days so we can get started on haying.

Janet, no idea where we are going for dinner. What will be will be.

Hindsight says I should have started another load of laundry but now two kitties are dozing on my lap....sorry, cats, you are about to be evicted. I am going nuts trying to convince Mauser she can use the litter box EACH time, not just every other occasion! At least the shower stall is better than the floor, and we are definitely remodeling that room as soon as cats are relocated to the barn. If it would stop raining I could mop the floor more often -- it takes forever to dry in the humidity and we do NOT run the AC until at least June, unless it is Florida weather, in which case all bets are off! Mel and A.C. have semi adjusted to the holy terrors, and Mel even shares my lap with them, well, sometimes if he hard up for attention.

Okay, it is off to laundry land. See you later.

    Decided on
    Chicken A La King
for dinner this evening. It's turned into a beautiful afternoon with an absolutely gorgeous cool breeze. I did a mow at the front of the property. The pr. of bluebirds are back looking at the bluebird house to see if it is worthy to nest in again this year.

    Good morning!
Tina, I am thinking of you. I get nasty leg cramps and foot and toe cramps that wake me up and have me in tears with the pain. I hope you find relief soon.
It is Friday morning, another week almost ending and it is pouring rain. I am not used to the idea of 100% humidity all the time. I did wash on Monday night when I got home and some of it is still damp, the curtains are damp at the windows and the towels don't dry out hanging in the bathroom. Right now it is pouring rain so maybe if it all falls, it will get better over the next few days.
I am searching for single serving recipes that have ingredients I can get here but not having too much luck. I did takeout curry on Wednesday night, ate half and ate the other half last night. I am kind of getting tired of that though so I will go searching at lunch time.
Heading off to work now, umbrella in hand. Hope everyone is having a great day.

    Hi Michelle B.
You piqued my curiosity about Fijian cuisine. So I Googled it and came up with an informative site: http://www.fijibure.com/namatakula/food.htm. I'm sure you have already seen it or ones like it, but it helped me understand more about the culture. I think it would be challenging for me to switch to such a different type of cooking. (Old brain, resisting change - LOL!)
The humidity here has been high, but I don't know about 100 % humidity and trying to launder things. Ha ha! Hopefully it will change soon. Is it their rainy season?
