Good Morning Everyone! Jim will arrived home mid-afternoon. I'm starting to miss him, so I'm glad. :) Am going to make
Ann Burrells Grilled Chicken With Dijon And Meyer Lemon
    for dinner this evening.
My Sauerkraut soup turned out marvellously yesterday. The broth is delectable. I'm positive I have dried mushrooms in my pantry as I just saw them recently but could I find them for the soup yesterday???? NOOOOOOOO. Which simply means that I really have to go through my pantry and do a big cleaning. I'd say 'spring cleaning', but I missed that by a whole lot of months. :)
Weird on the Sloppy Joe with luncheon meat and coleslaw Linda. I'd have been perplexed as well. That's very cool about the meaning of a turtle crossing your path.
Saw this cute Far-side comic this morning and thought I'd share. :)
    Wishing everyone a great day!

Morning!! Yum on that chicken recipe, I’ve seen you mention it a couple times, but I really need to make it for when my next batch of Meyer lemons on my tree are ready :) It produces three times a year now. Yum, now you really have me wanting to make that sauerkraut soup!!

Finishing up my 2nd cup of coffee then I am going to head to the gym. I tossed and turned all night long, not sure how much sleep I got but it wasn’t much. So my workout will be light. Need to go to the grocery store after then Sam’s.

The sloppy joes turned out good last night, but I am not going to be reviewing as I added a bunch of mustard and things to bring down the sweetness. Too sweet for us!

Bri has practice tonight and Michael will be in charge of that while I take Caiden to get his soccer picture’s done then head to sign him up for Cub Scouts :) I will have to get ready dinner early before all the activities because it will be late when we get home. Going to make this Mexican Skillet Chicken and Cilantro Lime Rice I will eat it by itself but I’m sure everyone else will put them in either flour or corn tortillas. Wishing everyone a great day!!

Good Morning Michelle! I big-time envy anyone who actually has a lemon tree, never mind a Meyer-Lemon tree in their yard. LUCKYYYYY! I was kind of surprised to see them back in the grocery stores last week. But I never remember their season anyway, so....I picked them up just because I think they're awesome. I do a few things differently with the Sauerkraut soup. I LOVE sauerkraut, so I don't drain the pkg., I add all the brine in with my broth. :) If you don't have the dried mushrooms, don't sweat it, I don't really think it makes a big difference to the outcome. I've never seen a pork neck bone, so I buy a smoked turkey drumstick, take off all the meat, use about 3/4 of it in the soup, diced and throw the bone in (which I fish out at the end). There's a lot of stringy bone things in the drumstick which I just keep out and throw under my bird feeder for the raccon and then the last 1/4 bit of meat I keep in the fridge and use just like ham. I've been unsuccessful making the bouquet garni, so I put the bay leaf and the peppercorns in a tea ball and fish that out at the end and just use dried parsley and thyme (1/2-3/4 tsp.) right in the soup. And lastly, I don't bother with the sour cream. I'm not a sour cream fan.
Go you on your workout. I've been SO bad in that department. :( Have fun grocery shopping and at Sam's. I don't like sweet meat things generally so I hear you on the Sloppy Joe recipe. Cute on Caiden's soccer pictures. :)

Good Afternoon! Wishing everyone a great day.

I like the tweeks you noted on the sauerkraut soup Janet. I like Ann Burrell too and will take a look at the chicken recipe.
I learned Sloppy Joes are also a deli sandwich as I described but really? they should name it something else.

I use Chef John's recipe for Sloppy Joes Michelle, uses more ground beef and to me has a nice balance of sweet and sour. I'm not a big fan of green pepper so I leave it out and dice up some celery instead.

How are Bri's rats doing? Are the new ones out of quarantine? and are they all getting along?

DH had a hair cut appointment at 9:00 a.m. so LD and I went with him because there is an office supply store (Staples) around the corner that I wanted to go to. So he dropped us off there, went and got his hair cut, then picked us back up. After we went to Panera for a breakfast sandwich.
I love playing in my imaginary soap shop and recently used up the last of my oils to make soap for my sister and a friend. I've been having such a dilemma with a low cost packaging idea and finally have something I'm happy with so I went to Staples to get what I needed. I learned to fold a piece of paper so it creates a box that the soap sits in and then I make a sleeve for the top that covers half of it so you can still see the soap and too so it can breath. I made labels for the sleeve and decided to rename my shop the "I LOVE SOAP, SUDS SHOP" and use hearts for the logo. Much more whimsical and appealing to a wider range of people. Now mind you it's all imaginary and perhaps someday I will sell soap at craft fairs or venues like that.

That's all for now. Will head off to the gym in another hour or two and will probably grill steaks tonight for dinner.

Glad Jim is coming home today, Janet. Your dinner sounds great to me! You should post that soup by another name b/c the way you make it is so different. from the way, it is posted.

You are busy, busy like always, Michelle! I am not a fan of Sloppy Joes and maybe it is b/c the meat is so sweet? I am also envious of your Meyer Lemon tree.

Nothing much happening here today as usual. I have to go pick up our house and car insurance stuff at the Insurance Company. They changed the things back to the way we wanted it b/c the province has changed and dropped a few important things which became into effect last June. Dinner will be pork tenderloin something.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

I need a haircut myself! LOVE Staples and haven't been in there forever. I've always loved Stationary stores. Nice on Panera for breakfast Linda. Love your soap shop and I think it's a fantastic idea for a future endeavour. I am always drawn to soap booths at Craft fairs and markets. They do incredible things and I love just smelling all the scents. The only negative is cost. I refuse to pay $9 for a bar of soap no matter how gorgeous it is. Go you too for heading to the gym. Yum on steaks for dinner.

Good luck with your errands to the Insurance Company Joce. Yum on pork tenderloin.

    HI all.

Sloppy jo's for me is "grab the canned stuff and pour over the ground beef" -- I know, icky! But we only have them when we are in a hurry. May pre-cook and crumble ground venison or beef, package in in baggies, and freeze when we take the RV. Easy meal! Easy fix. Little cleanup and no grease. I should really fix a RECIPE instead of grabbing the cans....maybe you have inspired me. Ha ha.

I'm sure the raccoons appreciated your contribution, Janet. I don't mind some "me time" either but it is nice when Wayne returns.

You are so busy, Michelle. I would collapse by mid afternoon. LOL. A Meyer (or any other kind) of lemon tree would be so cool! I doubt if it would survive our winters here! It would have to be a dwarf tree and toted inside to last thru the winter.
Ooh - grilled steaks do sound wonderful, Linda.

    Hi Joce!

Am back from the commissary (just a few items) and have to put groceries away before walking Fritz, cleaning kitchen, civilizing the bathroom, and deciding what to fix for supper. Wayne's cholesterol was too high so we need to get back to a decent diet. Eggs were supposed to be bad for you, now they are good for you -- since we have all the eggs we want, I'm leaning toward the good for you view.

The idea of a 2nd cup of coffee is appealing. But it is after 11 and I need to get some work done before Wayne is back from errands.

We pick up the RV tomorrow morning. Then I have to go through it to see what we need for initial stocking up on cleaning supplies, etc. Much of it I have extras in the house. But a trip to the commissary -- Dollar Tree -- Aldi's maybe, would be in order. We need to familiarize ourselves with it also, or as Wayne said -- "see if we kick ourselves in the behind" for buying it or finding we really enjoy it. He wants to take Fritz (saves on boarding) but little dog is not ready or happy traveling yet, and I would have to cover all furniture to protect it from his sharp claws, not to mention he has gotten car sick so would have to be pre-medicated. History would have been perfect, she just slept in the car as we drove along, but Fritz will take some training - luck - patience - extreme prayer sessions -- etc.

Have a great day. See you later.

You've got a busy day Karen! Good luck with all your jobs. Fun fun on picking up the RV tomorrow! I'm sure you will love it. I remember when my BIL and SIL got a new standard poodle puppy. It threw up while travelling in the car for a year, and then it was fine. LOL @ extreme prayer sessions. :)

MMMM, that chix recipe looks fantastic Janet. I love mustards so it's right up my ally. Next trip to Costco I'll have to get a whole bird and do half up like it for me and do DH's half rotissiere (sp?) style for him.

$9 for a bar a soap is a bit much. The average price is between $5-6 for about 4-5 oz. Some use quality oils and other use Crisco.

Sloppy Joes freeze well Karen. When I make a pot I'll make more than I want so I can portion and freeze it for a quick meal. How exciting to be getting your RV! Any plans yet for your first road trip?

We just found out we can't get the RV until Monday, the fifth wheel tow whatsit was back ordered. The freezer is small so can't freeze a lot but the meals should keep a few days in the refrigerator. No idea what to do for the first trip yet but Fritz is not going until he improves! Ha ha.

I actually often make the Lemon Dijon chicken with pieces Linda. You can totally just do the marinade on pieces as opposed to a halved chicken. I am totally okay with paying $5-$6 for a nice bar of soap. That is reasonable.

Too bad you can't pick up the RV 'til Monday Karen. :(
