Good Morning Marie! Lovely day here. Just got back from breakfast. Have to go grocery shopping this afternoon. Almost have my totes put away in the cupboards. Jim and I went to Tasty Pizza last night for a Butter Chicken (Hero) Pizza and I had an Angry Orchard Cider. Can't get either of those in Ottawa. Totally hit the spot! :)
Hope the phone rings less for you today Lori.
May get take-out Indian food from the Spice Hut for dinner this evening since Jim is going to meet me at the Grocery store and I won't have had a chance to prepare anything.
    Have a great day everyone!

I can't believe I slept until 11:30 this morning. Strangest dreams ever......very weird. Working on taxes, medical claims, and other headache inducing stuff for the day.

Our little lobster tails with some marinated flank stead on the dinner plans. If I get extra industrious, a spinach souffle. I haven't made one in years and I'm kind of craving the airy warmth.

Heavy rains heading our way. Liv is supposed to be playing softball after her lunch shift. Might be an ugly night to play softball.

Dinner tonight will be the leftovers from the couscous filled butternut squash, we had the day before yesterday ( will put up recipe later ) with some grilled lamb chops. Heading off to work now, will be pretty busy in the bakery today ;)

And, yes, I still have to do my taxes, too. Fun !

Hope everybody will have a splendid day.

Good luck with all your paperwork Tina! I've never had a spinach souffle. It sounds delicious. Is cheese involved? Your dinner sounds amazing. Will keep fingers cross it doesn't rain on Liv's parade. :)
Hi Ralph! Have a great day at the Bakery.

Hello Ralph and Janet! Good Afternoon to both of you.

Janet, Spinach souffle involves a parmesan cheese coated souffle dish and a bit of parm in the spinach base. Souffles are so good. When I worked at Swanson's Wine bar and bistro we had a lemon souffle for dessert that had an intense warm lemon sauce poured into the middle of the pouffy eggy souffle. it was so yummy. I do hope Jim is a better shopper than Fred. LOL

Ralph, I love couscous, my family not so much. How are you with quinoa? Are they shoulder lamb chops or rib chops? My mom used to marinate in soy, sherry and brown sugar and they were always good. Love the apple croustada post with the rum raisins, Yummy.

We ate early and decided to take a drive with the top down...I was all dressed up from work, why waste the make-up/war paint? So we went our after supper to a couple of "trendy cocktail" spots. I had a gingerbeer, lime syrup, and gin concoction. Olivia had a macerated cucumber, lime and vodka. We couldn't decide which was better. That was at the "Bends". Then we went to the "Mandarin Hide" and had another version of the cucumber martini's. They were better at the "Hide".
Then we went to Ceviche for $4.00 Tapas Tuesday and drank water with a few tapas. Patatas Bravas and albondigas. Fried potatoes with spicy meatballs. Then the old farts, Fred and I headed home and Liv went to a her girlfriend's house.

Now, I have to tackle those pesky taxes. Harrrurmmphhhhhhh.

Yep, I would love that Spinach Soufflé Tina. Only made one soufflé ever and that was a zillion years ago. Jim won't be shopping. He'll arrange to arrive just as I'm finishing up. and I don't mind that at all. I prefer to do it on my own. Do need to steer him over to Macy's in the next day or two though. He needs a couple sweaters injected into his wardrobe. Nice on your drive yesterday. Nice on your cocktails too! :) I would love a $4 Tapas night. How fun! Google imaged those two items. Looks delicious. And I know I've said it before....I bought myself the cutest Tapas cookbook at least three years ago and have been meaning to give it a whirl and I just haven't yet.

Tonight is pizza night. Dad had a hankering for actual pizzeria pizza so Brian is picking up from Flippers. Wierd hot windy weather here. Got a new coffee pot to replace the ant infested one.
My Tea Lady has mixed up my new recipe for liver/kidney detox brew. Having trouble settling on a name. I had suggested Laura's Cleansing Tea, she countered with Laura's Liver Detox Tea. That doesn't sound appealing to me. Now I'm having trouble coming up with an alternative. Any suggestions out there?

Ya Laura, I'm leaning towards your name for the tea and not the Tea Lady's. Is there a main ingredient in the mix that you could use in combination with the word 'cleansing'? For eg. I know I have a friend who's Dr. recommended Milk thistle tablets to detox her liver. If that were an ingredient, it could be called "Laura's Thistle Cleaning Tea. Even the word Detox is fine. It's the word Liver I think that doesn't make it sound so appealing. LOLOLOL. Yum on pizza. Enjoy.

Hi:) Our taxes are done! Whoo hoo!

Wanted to warn all of you ...someone just posted a "recipe" called Dirty Dog, I have already flagged it..really filthly...what makes people do this???

Didn't have bread crumbs (do u believe me?) so I make some fresh and put in the oven for a few minutes..worked pretty good:)

Tina, glad you got some sleep!!!

Janet, sounds like you and Jim are having a really nice time:)

Hi Ralph:) Hope you have a splendid day as well!

Hi Laura, I like Laura's Cleansing Tea...will you post this?

    Hey Everyone!

LOL Marie! You sound just like me! I crave something, and plan and plan and plan to make it...and one thing or the other happens and it never gets made...ingredients fall prey to other menus along the way...lol. Good luck getting to have Janet's chicken parm. I still want to try that one, too.

LOL Janet...I don't think you can get either of those items in East TN either!!! :) Thanks for the less phone ringing vibes. It may have rung a tad less today, although it was full steam ahead the first few hours! Enjoy your dinner out! I'd love going out for Tapas. Not sure I could talk Bryan into it, or where one might do that around here. I will have to do some research!

Tina!!!! One of the things I wanted to say last night and couldn't spit out was KUDOS on being down a size!!!!! That's totally fantastically awesome!!!!!!!! Sounds like a fun evening you had. Hope you are doing well with getting all the yucky stuff out of the way, so you can enjoy the day off tomorrow! I could go for your supper, too! I've never made / had any kind of souffle, but, I know I'd love the spinach one for sure!! MMMMMMM

Hi Ralph! I think I remember seeing you were a baker. That's very cool! I'm sure you are busy for Valentines Day! Did you make any King Cakes for Mardis Gras?

Laura...I'm with you and Janet. I'm not so sure about the Tea Lady's name. I like yours better. They can read what gets cleansed / detoxed on the label, right?

I really need to cook something tonight, and I am so tired...I really don't want to. :) Bryan's off and I didn't cook all last week because we had so many leftovers from the week before...I really should throw something together. Hmmm....

There goes the phone again...they're playing my song! lol

Hi Lori! Yes, I do tend to "borrow" ingredients for something else..at least I know others do the same as well..lol

That freak posted another one " Greek Salad"..This is startng to piss me off..what a crude and ignorant individual. I wish someone would DELETE these. Added thread to The Help Group as well...

I'm not even going to search out that recipe you mentioned Marie, although I am curious who the 'cook' was as I looked at the potato chip recipe that was on the homepage today and a new person had written a stupid comment on their page as well. Could have been the same person. I flagged it. They just don't have a life I guess.
Hi Lori! Good luck trying to think of a meal. I can't do that under pressure though. It's not hard. I prefer to plan them out ahead of time, get the ingredients and then it doesn't stress me out.
Okay Marie...now I've got to go take a look.

LOL Janet! I hear ya on planning ahead. I guess I have gotten lazy and am totally unmotivated to cook and clean up the kitchen afterward! I'm trying to think of something to have for tomorrow night, as well. We probably won't go out for Valentines Day since we were gone all weekend and had a couple of nice meals out.

Woohoo on having the taxes done, Marie! Me too!! Got my refund today! :)

YEA! Don't ya love getting $$$ in the mail!! Thanks for the flagging info:)
We don't "do" VD..we like the spontaneity of giving gifts, whether it be flowers, candy, dinner at a nice restaurant:) Although, I must say, it has been a while since I've received flowers, candy or dinner at a nice restaurant..ummmm LOL My sister works at an upscale floral shop and Rick WOULDN'T dare order anything this week!!! ROTFLOL My sis would keel him..lol I would actually like getting a box of chocolates over flowers:D

I think I've told you that one of my best friends is a Florist. She just got in an order of 1800 long stemmed red roses on Monday. She said it took them the entire day to get them prepped and put in buckets to work with for the rest of the week. They actually take the thorns off beforehand and everything and they also tie a zillion bows with red ribbon and assemble a zillion long boxes ahead of time, again to be prepared for the big day. Even she, as the business owner has to pay a much, much higher price for those roses this time of year. Supply and demand.
I don't know what Jim and I are going to do for Valentine's Day tomorrow night. We've been eating out a lot ourselves. Hoping something nice might pop out at me at the grocery store that I could make up.
I hear you on feeling unmotivated Lori. I just meant that it stresses me out more, not to make up a list or know in the morning what I'm going to cook that evening. You've had so much on your plate the last while. That doesn't help either. That's awesome you got your tax refund back.
My SIL just got hers back yesterday. And then today her truck started to make bad noises. It's incredibly old and has been threatening to die for years. She was talking of going truck shopping this aft. :)

Looks like rain is heading our way. Super strange windy weather.
We don't "do" Valentines either. I remember working at the card shop and watching in amazement as guys would flood the store at closing. They would indiscriminately grab stuffed animals, cards, chocolate and roses and flee. A real grab and dash commercial holiday. Took all the romance out of the day, there was no thought put into the purchase of those gifts.

WOW on all those roses! That is crazy.

Our souffle is in the oven with 20 minutes to go. The steaks are on the flat plate and I've split the little lobster tails and will grill them. It is a bit smokey in the kitchen. The harissa rub smells awesome.

Fred is pulling out the big crockpot...I'm throwing in a pot roast, trailer trash style for tomorrow. Mashed potatoes and roasted carrots.

Taxes are not done. I have to collect more medical receipts. Maybe tomorrow,
It always seems that tax refunds and emergencies go hand in hand.

Time to flip the meat and add those pitiful little tales. I doubt they were worth the 3.99 I paid for them. Oh well, it will be a good dinner anyway.

Janet, yes, roses are a big seller! So beautiful, lot of prep to get them ready..and expensive..on the other hand, nothing like a dozen red roses. arranged well in a vase...

Hey all. I think men are usually last minute shoppers! Men's cologne was busier than ladies today but tomorrow will be the opposite.
I've always wanted to go out for Tapas. Franks valentines gift is delayed. I transferred our wedding video from vhs to DVD. But it isn't in yet and now they are saying the 23rd. I kind of rather be done with the whole gift giving thing. I mean we take a nice vacation every year and its expensive cant we just count that as all our gifts lol
They had meatball subs for dinner. I just got home and I'm gonna have chocolate peanut butter and fruit on crisps. Waiting for survivor to start.

I have always loved yellow roses. I like them better than red. I can remember when I had my wisdom teeth extracted waking up to a beautiful basket of yellow roses from my first beau. They were so pretty. And Fred brought me lavender hued roses when Tyler was born, They were huge and gorgeous. I think I remember that Liz Taylor liked the lavender roses. When Olivia was born he gave me pink roses. I think that is how many times I received roses in my life. Wait, our wedding, I had white roses in my bouquet and hair. Not saying I didn't ever get flowers from Fred, he has chosen different flowers, my favorite orchids or African violets as gifts.

My momma always wanted me to make her a souffle. She liked a gruyere souffle best. I've had best success with savory, I like a crab or shrimp for brunches. My attempts at dessert souffles seem to fall flat. har de har har.

I am so tired. Fred has offered to clean the kitchen. That is a gift right up my alley. Thank you dear. Please do.
