Payoff day today. Spent a lot of time cooking yesterday and the food had to be chilled overnight. So we are having some bread pudding with creme Anglaise which I have never had but it tastes pretty darn good as I was sampling and cooking. Also some banana pudding coming together in the fridge. Still have some of that vegetable dish left over from a couple of days ago. And with all the prunes in the dish, it has made it easy on me in the restroom.

Yum Pat! Sounds like a great combo for fajitas!!

It is BONE COLD here. BONE CHILLING COLD. Donna and Val you must have sent it this way!!! Have a hankerin for some warm, one dish comfort food. Gonna whip up a chicken casserole using the leftover chicken breasts. (posted to group) ooey and gooey and cheesey. Probably use spinach in it this time.

I'm with ya Pat, I have decorating and wrapping to do this weekend. And cleaning and a little baking. Having a get together with the two couples that we draw names with at our place on Tuesday, so gotta get it ready. We are just having pizzas, since it's a work night, but I HAVE to have a few goodies to serve - it's a Christmas Party! lol Suggestions are welcome! ; )

Good morning all. I'm feeling very happy this morning. Livestrong.com is allowing me to beta test thier new recipe builder software. I had just about given up on them. I track my diet progress on LiveStrong.com and being able to build recipes with nutrition information in you food tracking site is soooo important.

LiveStrong.com aquired TheDailyPlate.com some while back and are just now getting around to integrating the system with their methods.

I attempted to enter the OtterPond Taco Salad recipe I posted here yesterday as my first trial run. The first obvious change is having one page to enter all of the recipe on. Previously this had been done through a step through sequence of dialog boxes. I much prefer the new page as it works more like I think all at once but possibly up down and side ways all at the same time.

The ingredients list is hooked to a very very large database of items which we are informed have been verified. I was even able to find Publix Lean Ground Beef, 93/7 every type of ground beef was available and there are many. If you add an item that is not in the data base it does not permit you to add a quantity or unit right away. Waiting to see what happens when I go to save. As you add an ingredient the application displays the serving size and calories per serving right under the ingredient.

I got to the last ingredient and pressed enter (rather than tab to the next field), it reported I needed to complete the information then cleared the screen and I got to start all over. I'm thinking a little more trapping here for an incomplete recipe. It would be more appropriate to allow me to finish the recipe rather than erase it and have me start over.

Well that's what beta testing is all about. Its just fantastic to finally see this coming to fruition.

Maybe we did send the cold your way, Lori, today's the first day all week that I got up to a temp over 20! A toasty 29 here now!
Those fajitas sound great, Pat. So do your pork chops Laurie.
    P7O, TMI and LOL
I'm thinking of something extremely easy tonight. Maybe the second of that cornmeal crust pizza I bought a while back. It's frozen, but it'll do. Cleaning lady is coming today - woo hoo! My group has grown to maybe 15 tomorrow.... Turkey's in the brine, just have to run to the store for last minute things and panic.....
    Have a great day everyone!

That's what we had the last couple days, cold and windy. Warmed up just enough for Cic to be able to walk home this afternoon then went straight cloudy about an hour later. Haven't seen the forecast but I am still hoping for snow!

Saw a recipe for cheesy chicken spaghetti but my bird is still frozen. So I dunno what's for dinner yet....

BBQ Pulled pork out of the crock pot...simple...hoagie rolls. Some kind of salad...pickins are slim in the produce drawer, see if I can make something out of nothing. Think I have a can of pears...maybe a little old fashioned stuffed pear with cream cheese and nuts.

Stay warm dear friends.....pile on the blankets and cozy up to a cup of something warm.

Overwhelmed...Fred thinks I'm his personal assistant. It has been constant battles to make him get out of bed. I was taking his drugs to him with water and now, I sit on the couch and tell him his pills are on the kitchen counter and he has to get out of bed and walk to the kitchen and get them himself. He stays in the bed and holllers at me. I refuse to go and it has surely been aggravating.

I want the t-shirt the nurses had....."I'm here to cure your ass, not wait on it."

He refuses to get up to eat and I can't have him slide back into that unhealthy state so, my evening is spent cajoling, pleading and begging him to move. I'm tired. And the mornings are simply a repeat of the evening battle.

Liv has had the worst of it while I'm at work and she is at her wit's end with him demanding constant attention. I don't blame her for jumpung at any chance to leave the house. I believe it will get better, I pray it will ease up, but we are struggling now.

My mom used to make the pear salad all the time, it was a favorite. she would thin some mayonnaise with some of the pear concentrate and make a drizzle over the pear half with the little ball of cream cheese rolled in crushed walnuts. It is a tasty little tidbit. Our pantry is running low and it was the best I could do. Fred's scrips ate up the grocery funds again.....so, creativity and leftovers remade will be the ticket for the rest of the year. Resourceful is my middle name. LOL

Oh momma I so feel your pain. I wish I could spell you because that is what its going to take. You are blessed to have family and friends close by.

When you talked about your pear treat I remembered something I hadn't thought of forever and it made my mouth water. My mother used to put half a canned pear on a lettuce shell, drop a dollop of miracle whip in the middle, a sprinkle of grated cheddar with a marchino cherry on top. Boy was that ever the best!

Thanks Lori and Pat for your vote of confidence in me - LOL I'm good, I think - put the leaves in the table, clothed it, and found out 2 out of the 15 can't make it. Waiting on confirmation of two more who might not be able to come either - that will be okay cuz then I can seat comfortably 7 around the dining table and 4 (the younguns LOL- low 20's) at the cafe table downstairs or at the bar up here. I'm sure they don't want to sit with their moms, dads, aunts and uncles and grandma!
We dined on BLTs tonight - super easy and no pans to wash! Got an empty dishwasher all ready...

Tina, sorry to hear you are still having a hard time with Fred, stick to your guns though, that's the only way he will recover, though it might seem mean, it's not. That pear salad sounds delicious!

Gonna go make a drink and relax..... It's back down to 23* but not supposed to snow till Sunday late afternoon....

Very best wishes on your big dinner, Dear.....I know you can pull it off with panache and grace. Smart move on the empty dishwasher. That is a feat I can never pull off...there always seems to be dishes in the way!! And double ditto on the clean house...what bliss.

What would we do without BLT's!!!!

Dear ones, extra Thanks for the moral support, it helps more than you know......kid just got home from work and we are going to "refresh" her hair to dark auburn.....She needs a little help from her mom in the touch up area. LOL I guess I'm still good to keep around for something.
