NFL Challenge!

  • keni 13 years ago
This one will be more specialized, but it's one I offered up to myself, and that I plan to continue to do... and it was fun and very successful, so, I figured I'd toss it up here for others to participate, if they want.

The idea of it is to take a well known dish from the city of whichever NFL team you are representing, and create an appetizer or add your own twist to it, for "game day"!

For example: Pittsburgh is famous for it's Primanti Brothers sandwich, so I did a 'slider' version! They also have chili cheese fries with bacon, so I made individual ones on waffle fries. For the sweet portion of this one, I made Clark Bars by Henrie, from this site.

New Orleans was my other team, and I did mini muffalatas and red beans and rice cups! I used pralines as it's dessert representation.

All these recipes are already posted from a few weeks ago, and I'm gonna add 'em to the group...so, for those who love football and need appetizer ideas...try this, sometime!

(PS if you aren't an NFL fan, of course you can adapt this challenge to your desired sport! Baseball, soccer, rugby...whatever you want :)

Living in Michigan, we have the Lions(Lie-downs), so a fallen souffle would work. That's why I have always been a Packers fan.

Awesome, Val.. maybe you can run with that idea and create something new as a Seahawks Appetizer!

Being from Wisconsin, it's going to be something with cheese for mine. Packer fans are known as "cheese heads."

I know what I'm making for Denver. Not much comes out of Denver as far as food (except Rocky Mountain Oysters...YUM! But I'm not making those at home). But, my idea is a twist on something and not very fancy. It feels too basic maybe.

Hey, cooks. Nope, the Chop House isn't native to Denver. And Keni, yes, you are a smartass! One of the reasons I love ya so much! ;)

For the Miami Dolphins who are doing none to well this season I offer up Crushed Dolphin Sandwiches . This is a recipe made famous by Scully's Tavern in Miami.
