Please assist me in keeping the group alive by occassionally posting messages to let me know you are actually here, lol. Otherwise the group is apt to do as many of them have already, fade out of sight. I am trying but I need your help too, lol. :-)

A friend and I are going to walk in the local race/walk (Red Bud Classic). I think I'll try a new oven fried chicken recipe that I saw on Food Network - Healthy Appetite with Ellie Krieger - looked fabulous and relatively low in fat.

I've got a chaperoning deal tonight with the freshmen/sophomore class at the high school where I teach... instead of formal dances, they throw giant luaus in Hawaii! I've been to two before, but every one is so different.. I love to taste all of the AUTHENTIC hawaiian food that's so hard to get anywhere else! I'll add some delicious "paniolo" (hawaiian cowboy) recipes soon!

I'm coming back south on business for just 24 hours on Weds of this week and want to try someplace new for lunch. I lived in ATL for 10 years, but have been in Minnesota for the last 5 and I know there are new places to try. Any suggestions for a Southern food-lovin' Alabama kid who's been trapped up north waaaaay too long?

You all have such great recipes. I may not comment a lot (I try), but I have been bookmarking a lot of them.

Yes, that is one thing I wish they would update in the groups. Instead of posting how many weeks, days, etc since a message was posted, I wish it showed the actual date. If that had been the case, you could have known which weekend I posted that. Even I am not sure now.

I want to comment to a few of you...let's see....who to begin with...LOL...
Dari, I haven't chatted here but I do post most all of my recipes here as I am most definitely a Southern cook, I don't cook much of any thing else. LOL
DM... I like Dari used to live in Atlanta for about 4 years but I don't remember anywhere special to eat. We lived in the Douglasville area and there were a couple of small restaurants there but I don't remember the names.
cagoodie I would love to see your Fried green maters recipe. That is one of the biggest staples in a Southern diet. I have one posted that is my fav but I am willing to try another. LOL

Since this is the Labor Day weekend, I'm in my usual spot in the house, the kitchen. Tomorrow we're having Chili Cheese Dogs w/ coleslaw and Bacon & Cheese stuffed Bacon Cheese Burgers (that's right an artery clogging double dose of bacon and cheese)

My daughter and the grandkids are going to a parade in the morning, which will give me time to make the dessert without having little ones underfoot while I'm trying to cook. (Plus I get to lick the bowl and spoon. ;) )

Dariana you asked us all to occasionally post a message to keep the group alive but wouldn't it stay alive any way with all the recipe posts? I'm not saying I don't want to send messages, I am just wondering.

Hi Ya'll! I just posted a great recipe for pulled pork barbeque that is cooked in the oven. It's great for those winter days when it's just too cold or windy to cook outside. I hope you will all check it out. My family loves it and my son will drive miles to eat here when I make this! I must say, it is pretty good.

    Ya'll folks have fun.

Hi, I am new here and would love to get to know you ladies, share my recipes with you all and add your recipes to my recipe box. I am from Savannah, Georgia, married and loves to cook down home Southern foods. Being I was raised in the deep south, cooking the old way is my style of cooking. I cook most everything from scratch .

Hey nanato, welcome to gr! I am from south mississippi. The only thing I pretty much know how to cook is southern, with the exception of a few things. Hope to be able to chat with everyone soon!
