Food Network Stars

OK, I'll start: That Giada De Laurentiis woman irritates me. When she smiles, she looks like she's snarling. Her head is too big for her body; she looks like a Pez dispenser. Finally, I simply do NOT like the way she pronounces certain "Italian" foods! Mozzarella cheese is "moots-a-RA-lah" and by the time she's done rolling her tongue on "prosciutto," I'm asleep.

I could keep going all day with Rachel Ray, Emeril, Bobby Flay, Paul Deen, etc. Just wondering what your thoughts are?? And am I starting a thread that duplicates one already addressed in this forum?

Too bad. I like this group the best and prefer not to stray. Everyone gets along in here! You guys are the best.

I am so with you on Giada!!! She makes me sick! (ouch) Speaking of her head. How about her forehead! More like a fivehead! Like I said in another post, it's like she's making a soft porn movie. Okay, on to RR, Yummo, evoo, delish, gag me! Paula Deen, okay, I'm southern and I don't talk that way. She sooooo exaggerates her accent.
I love Ina Garten, Michael Chiarello, Tyler Florence.

OMG, I was thinking the same thing about the background music to Giada's culinary activities!!! It reminds me of the soundtrack to a very cheaply produced porn movie!! Of course, how would I know what that sounds like. Hmmmmmmmmmm..........................

Poor Rachel. There is an entire website devoted to hating her. I don't much care for her "teen speak," but I love her goal of 30 minute meals for people who are just trying to get it done, you know?

I love Paul's dishes. I'm frankly shocked that she's still alive, what with 4 pounds of butter going into every meal, but she sure knows how to get the most out of her fat. And I love it when her dog wanders into the kitchen. That cracks me up all the time.

I've heard that Bobby Flay is the biggest prick on the whole network--that he's extremely arrogant and mistreats staff (not the "good staff," just the little people who bring coffee and sweep the set and stuff like that.)

Emeril is a hoot, but why does it take 35 ingredients for him just to make a piece of toast?? I make his "kicked up meatloaf," and it's fabulous, but it takes me a whole WEEK to plan.

Don't watch much food TV but have caught a few shows........Maryann Esposito has some nice dishes, but my sister met her at a book signing and didn't find her "warm and fuzzy" at all.......said she had quite an attitude.

I've caught bits and pieces of different shows......Emeril, Puck......they all add to the knowledge base!

I miss Chef Paul Prudhomme.......pretty sure he's the one...........when I finally got to understand his accent.....I laughed the whole time his show was on, he was hysterical. My kids even loved watching him.

And Julia Child.........I found her to be funny AND learned a lot.

I kind of like that barefoot woman........Ina Garten? She's so.........serene. If I was continually entertaining an assortment of people in that big house, I'd be throwing pots and pans and swearing like a longshoreman.

Speaking of throwing food and swearing, what do we all think of Chef Gordon Ramsay?? I'd almost be tempted to cheat on my husband with that succulent hunk of beef. I could never work for him, though. He'd have me reduced to a blubbering mess within five minutes of my arrival in the kitchen. I've heard that in his private life, he's an extremely sensitive man, crying over orphans and sick puppies and stuff like that.

LOL @ little eclair...............ever see Gordon's wife?? She's a stunner! They have four children, if memory serves, so I guess his equipment works quite well, despite speculation about its size......................

Trivia: I watch a lot of Law & Order re-runs. There was an episode about a professional network chef who had been accused of killing his wife, I think, and there was some conspiracy among him, the publisher of his biography, and a juror, to have him found guilty so that his book would sell better. I guess the plot isn't important, BUT!!! In one scene where they were filming him preparing a meal for his TV show, they used Rachel Ray's kitchen set as a background! I recognized it immediately! It was the "old" set, not the new one she uses now.

So right - I really learn things here. Little eclair is much more continental and sophisticated than twinkie.
