Pierogi And Cabbage

- 1 package (16-ounce) frozen potato and cheddar pierogi shopping list
- salt shopping list
- 4 ounces sliced bacon, cut into 1/2-inch pieces shopping list
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil shopping list
- 1-1/4 pounds (1/2 small head) green cabbage , cut into 1/2-inch pieces shopping list
- 1 large (12-ounce) onion, thinly sliced shopping list
- 2 teaspoons distilled white vinegar shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar shopping list
How to make it
- In saucepot, prepare pierogi as label directs for boiling, using 2 teaspoons salt in water; drain.
- Meanwhile, in 12-inch skillet over medium heat, cook bacon until browned. With slotted spoon, remove bacon to paper towels to drain. Discard all but 1 tablespoon bacon fat from skillet.
- In same skillet over medium-high heat, in hot bacon fat and vegetable oil, cook cabbage and onion, covered, 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 4. Add vinegar, sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon salt to cabbage mixture and cook 5 minutes, uncovered, stirring frequently.
- 5.Tuck pierogi into cabbage mixture; heat through. Sprinkle with bacon.
