Scottish Bread Pudding

- 10 - 12 thick slices of bread shopping list
- soft butter shopping list
- 4 cups whole milk shopping list
- 4 - 6 large eggs, slightly beaten shopping list
- 1/2 cup plus 2 Tbsp. sugar shopping list
- 1/4 tsp. salt shopping list
- 1/2 cup golden or sultana raisins shopping list
- 2 tsp. vanilla shopping list
- 1 Tbsp. or more of a good whiskey shopping list
- 1 tsp. cinnamon shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 325°F
- Butter a 2 quart baking dish.
- Spread butter generously on one side of each slice of bread.
- Line bottom and sides of baking dish with buttered bread.
- Mix milk, beaten eggs, sugar, salt, raisins, vanilla, Whiskey and cinnamon and pour over bread.
- Place extra pieces of buttered bread on top and press down to submerge.
- Allow to stand for 10-12 minutes, longer if bread is on the dry side.
- Bake, covered for 30 minutes, then uncover for 30 minutes and continue baking for a total of 60 minutes.
- Remove cover and place under broiler, until top becomes a deep-golden crust.
- Serve warm with heavy cream and your favourite preserves.
- Can server 4-6 it just depends on the serving sizes.
