Ingredients
  • 1 white cake mix, prepared per box directions
  • 1, 8 oz box of your favorite jello prepared per box directions, but not set
  • 1 tub of cool whip, defrosted, but not room temp

Directions
  1. Prepare cake according to package directions and allow to cool completely.
  2. Poke the top with a fork
  3. Prepare jello per package directions
  4. Pour the jello slowly over the cake, allowing it to absorb into the cake. If you pour to fast all the jello will end up on the bottom of the pan instead of in the cake.
  5. Chill the cake for at least an hour, but more is better -- to set the jello
  6. When the cake is set, frost with de-frosted cool whip and serve.

This is truely a yummy taste treat. We love it with strawberry jello but have used other flavors also. this cake even handles sugarfree jello well with lite cool whip. You have put me in the mood for this so am off to the kitchen to whip one up. Thanks for posting.

I've had this many times at work lunches. It's always a favorite when someone makes it for one of the special lunches.
It's quick, easy and delicious!!!

I always make it for my birthday, which was last week. I ususaly do it with strawberry and whatever that blue flavor is...it's very patriotic. I didn't know it tasted good with SF jello--we'll have to try it sometime. Glad you guys like it. :)

You know, I can just imagine this would be good with a good chocolate cake and cherry jello!
Those flavors go together quite well.

You know I never thought to try with Chocolate and cherry. I've done a variation with lemon cake and lemon jello, but choc/cherry shounds really good!

This sounds really good, will be making soon. My husband and I are going on vacation next month... will be making while we're camping. Thanks for posting.

I have this recipe too! Great minds think alike. Everyone in my family loves it. And I like what "thepiggs" suggested, trying choc/cherry. YUM!

I made it for a youth group Valentine's event. Although I was sick and couldn't taste it, everyone else said it was good!
