Ingredients

How to make it

  • In a sauce pan add the olive oil, the shallots and saute for 3 minutes on a medium heat. Add ground beef and break aprt with a spoon.
  • Cook until the pink starts to dissapear.
  • Drain in a colander to remove grease.
  • Put back in pan and add the seasoning, worcestershire , ajvar and stir for 1 minute.
  • Add the anchovy paste, olives and stir for 30 seconds to incorporate into the mixture.
  • Add the tomato sauce and simmer 20 minutes.
  • Add pasta and toss for 30 seconds.
  • Add cheese and toss an additional 30 seconds.

    I rated this a 5 because it has foods from my favorite food group - the salt group. Yummy! I really want to make this. I never cook with anchovies and I am anxious to try this. I think these ingredients would give this a rich flavor.

    I just read in the latest Cook's Illustrated magazine that anchovy enhances the flavor of beef. The anchovies added to beef, act like MSG. I prepared Cook's Illustrated's Beef Stew last week (I used the Bay leaves you sent...thank you!) The recipe called for 4 anchovy fillets, chopped. I believe it does enhance the beef flavor. That stew was really good.
