Easy And Delcious Cheese Calzones

- Favorite Pizza dough shopping list
- Filling shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups ricotta cheese shopping list
- 1/2 c mozzarella cubed or shredded shopping list
- 1/4 cup parmesan or romano cheese grated , shopping list
- salt & pepper to taste shopping list
- Chopped fresh parsley, to taste shopping list
- 1 large egg shopping list
- garlic powder or fresh minced garlic to taste, shopping list
- basil or italian seasoning to taste shopping list
- cornmeal pizza dough shopping list
- 1 pkt. ( 1/4 ounce ) active dry yeast shopping list
- 1 cup warm water , more if needed shopping list
- 1 tsp sugar shopping list
- 2 3/4 to 3 cups bread flour shopping list
- 1/2 cup yellow cornmeal shopping list
- 1/2 tsp salt shopping list
- 2 Tbs olive oil shopping list
- Sealant: olive oil, water and egg wash shopping list
- Favorite pizza sauce for topping calzones if desired shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven at 475 and use oven stone or 400 F if using no stone
- Prepare pizza dough either by hand or try the bread machine
- Make filling by mixing all ingredients and set aside
- Divide prepared risen and punched down dough dough into 6 parts
- Roll out dough each 7-8 inch circles about 1/4 inch thick
- In middle of each circle spread some of the filling, in center a few inches from the sides
- Brush around the entire edge of dough with water or the beaten egg- which helps seal in filling
- Pull the outer half of dough over to meet and enclose filling , press to seal and the other end to meet the seal enclosed filling and press tightly to close the pocket pushing down firmly..( see photo )
- Prick top of dough with tip of sharp knife in a few places
- Brush calzones with Olive Oil or beaten egg mixed with water
- Bake about 20 minutes or golden.
- Enjouy and top with your favorite sauce!
