From andiecooks 14 years agoIngredients
- 3 c. cake flour shopping list
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda shopping list
- 1/8 tsp. salt shopping list
- 1 c. unsalted butter, room temp. shopping list
- 3 c. sugar shopping list
- 6 eggs, room temp., seperated shopping list
- 1 tsp. vanilla shopping list
- 1 c. sour cream shopping list
- 1/4 c. lemon juice shopping list
- for glaze: shopping list
- 3/4 c. powdered sugar shopping list
- 1 tblsp. lemon juice shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 300
- whisk together your dry ingredients really well
- in a seperate bowl cream butter and sugar
- seperate the eggs, reserving the whites
- beat the egg yolks into the butter mix one at a time, just enough to combine, we don't want it to be very fluffy...
- Stir in vanilla and lemon juice
- next add the flour mixture, alternate with the sour cream, mix well, scrape sides, once again don't overbeat
- lightly beat the egg whites, fold in to the batter gently
- pour/spoon batter into a greased tube pan(fluted is prettier)
- Bake for 1 1/2 hours
- cool cake in pan for 10 minutes
- Meanwhile blend p.sugar and lemon juice for glaze
- turn cake out onto a wire rack
- drizzle glaze over still hot cake
- garnish with thin lemon slices if desired
