Ingredients

How to make it

  • Spray slow cooker bowl with no stick spray. Place steaks in bottom of slow cooker.
  • Sprinkle with salt/pepper or seasoned salt and lime or lemon juice.
  • Add entire can of tomatoes, onion, garlic and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Cook on low for about 4 hours.
  • Add beans, taste broth and re-season.
  • Cook another 2-4 hours until meat is tender. Meat will remain "tough" then all the sudden, it will just fall apart.(mine took 7 hours)
  • Add spinach, return lid to pot, lower to warm or turn off, and let rest while preparing rest of meal. This should be enough time to heat and wilt the spinach...you don't want it over cooked.
  • Serve by removing each steak and spooning the veggie mixture over meat with a slotted spoon. This will yield a LOT of liquid even though very little is added.

I love recipes with not too many ingredients, and the slow cooker method is right up my alley. This would really do well for shredded meat sandwiches.

Your not kidding when you say how tender this turns out! I couldn't even find bottom rounds steaks...I ended up just using a top round sirloin and prayed it would turn out right...since I didn't know if they would be tender enough. It was...fell right apart! I did a crazy thing...and added some diced sweet potatoes!...lol! No really I did cut up way to many for Caiden's baby food so I didn't wanna waste...and they went great in it! Yummy recipe! Added a review in the IMI ---------> 2 From Keni

I made the Slow Cooker Smothered Round Steak last night. It totally lived up to expectations! I was short on time, so I cooked it on high for 2 hours, then low for the last 4. The flavors were wonderful. I added sliced red & green peppers during the second half of cooking (because I was craving them) and added the zest of the lemon in the recipe. I just can't use a lemon without the zest! I served it over rice This is definately on my make again list!!!

this sounds good & I'm always looking for Crock Pot recipes. Do you think Round Eye steaks are the same or similar to Bottom Round? Also, if I wanted to cut this recipe in half are there any special considerations you'd suggest?

I have to get back to using the slow vcooker. That picture looks great. I haven't had the best success with it, but I'll try this one this week.
