I just have to ask. What are pickled pig lips?
I imagine they are just what it says. I don't think we have those out here. Of course I haven't been looking? I have seen cows tongue in the meat section.

EEEWWWWW! Reminds me of my grandfather's disgusting jars of pickled pigs feet...geez-o-pete! I suppose you grew up on this stuff though - HA HA!!!

You know what someone told me.... that chicken feet is the best part of the chicken to make chicken stock because it is so rich.... what do you think about that!!!!!!

OMG!! This is REALLY your "best" take to a party recipe?? Where on earth do you get pigs lips??? EEEWWWWW!

I've had pickled almost everything on a pig but pickled pig lips?? And you get pickled pig lips where?? If it tastes anything like pickled pigs feet or ears I'm there. Something tells me this is a southern thing for sure (which is always a good thing). Saving this til I can figure out where to get them. And as a side I assume beer is a good choice of beverage??

OK so just read jro's post and read the article and clicked the link to order. When they get here gonna try them. Will let you know how it was. And a suggestion for a beer to chase it?? Never would have believed it if I didn;t read it myself.

Guess what came in the mail today. 28 ozs of pickled pig lips (2 jars). Sort of a vinegary, spicy not bad, hard to describe the flavor, but not what I expected for mouth feel at all. Thought they would be tough and chewy like pigskin, actually rather solid. Family was and is still grossed out and won;t try them. They are going with me to the tailgating party Sunday. Along with the lips is an advertisement for mayhaw jelly and crawfish jelly?? and assorted other chuckling items. I can;t believe I am eating these. Now your recommendation for chips is???
Thanks for the new culinary adventure, this is gonna be a make it or break it party.
Bill

OH MY GOODNESS... I CAN'T IMAGINE!!! When I was a wee lass my mother, granny and aunties often prepared pickled pigs tails and trotters but NEVER pigs lips!!! I just can't imagine - honestly, the image I have in my noggin right now is not a pleasant one. LOL Too much!

How did I miss these? Yummmy, ewwwwwwww.

I got to say comming from the ranch butchering side of me.......if you only knew where them lips have been.......hahahahahaha

but I must admit it does not sound all that bad considering some other things I have eaten.....LOL..LOL

I had the munchies real bad.. thanks for getting me back on my weightloss plan!

EEEWWWWWW!!!!!

These are easy to come by over here in Ireland. My Mother-in-Law serves them on the side with the Sunday roast.

Considered a delicacy, too.
