Gingerbread Men

(Amended 12/14) - I have tried a lot of Gingerbread recipes over the years and this one is the cream of the crop. My sister-in-law gave it to me and it can't be beat. Makes a soft gingerbread cookie. Ingredients
- 1 cup margarine shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 1 cup molasses shopping list
- 1 cup white sugar shopping list
- 1 cup milk shopping list
- 2 tbsp. white vinegar shopping list
- 7-8 cups all-purpose flour, enough so that dough is still soft but easy to roll shopping list
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. salt shopping list
- 1 tbsp. ginger shopping list
- 1 tsp. cinnamon shopping list
- 1 tsp. cloves shopping list

How to make it
- Cream the margarine with the sugar. Add egg, molasses, vinegar and milk. Beat well.
- Sift the dry ingredients and blend in.
- Chill three hours.
- Roll dough about 1/4" thick on lightly floured surface.
- Cut in shapes.
- Place on greased cookie sheet. They don't 'rise' a lot so you can pack them pretty closely.
- Bake at 375F for approximately 6 minutes. Do not overbake. They should be just lightly browned on the bottoms.
- Cool slightly, and remove from cookie sheet.
- Decorate.

These are yummy and have a very nice texture! We all agreed, we loved them :) The kids had a blast decorating, some ended up not looking so much like the traditional gingerbread man lol, but that's the fun of it :) Added a post in the IMI --------...more
