How to make it

  • 1st day- Wash 1 gallon cucumbers well and place in large jar. Pour 1/2 gallon boiling water and 1 cup salt over. Cover with cloth. Let stand 24 hours.
  • 2nd day- Drain. Add 1/2 box alum to 1/2 gallon boiling water. Pour over. Cover with cloth. Let stand 24 hours.
  • 3rd day- Drain. Pour 1/2 gallon plain boiling water over. Cover with cloth. Let stand 24 hours.
  • 4th day- Drain. Heat 1/2gallon vinegar and pour over. Put 1/2 box pickling spice in a bag or cheesecloth and tie shut. Drop in. Cover with cloth. Let stand 24 hours.
  • 5th day- Drain. Slice cucumbers and alternate layers with 2 1/2 lbs sugar. Cover and let set for 2 or 3 weeks. Refrigerate and enjoy!!!
