Ingredients
  • 2 1/2 cups of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of karo
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 6 tablespoons of butter
  • vanilla
  • 1 large c pecans (What is a large c?) one full cup, I suppose

Directions
  1. Her instructions exactly as written:
  2. Take half butter and toast pecans and salt slightly.
  3. Boil candy for three minutes-rolling boil-add vanilla; add nuts,
  4. beat and beat and beat, then either drop or pour in pan for cutting.
  5. ******************************************************************
  6. I toast the chopped pecans in 3 tbsp. of butter
  7. Combine the sugar, karo, milk, remaining butter in large heavy bottomed sauce pan, bring to rolling boil and time for three minutes. Remove from heat and add vanilla and nuts.
  8. Beat with a wooden spoon until it becomes pliable and cools down significantly. A real work out for the upper arms.
  9. Instead of pouring into a 9 x 9. I think it would be better dropped by the spoonful on a sheet of waxed paper to harden.

This sounds really good.... Dont you just love the old recipes....


I used to make this, but I cooked the sugar/milk/karo for 4 rolling min. then beat it with mixer, before it loses it's gloss, add the pecans/butter then pour into buttered dish. I'd forgotten all about this one, thanks for the post! Gotta make it again! Yumm
