How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350* F. Butter a 2-qt baking dish.
  • In saucepan, combine cider, 1 Tbsp cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. Heat over medium-high heat and whisk in flour. Whisk constantly until mixture thickens and begins to boil. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  • Pour cider mixture over apples and toss to coat. Pour into prepared baking dish.
  • Combine oats, brown sugar, 1 Tbsp cinnamon in small bowl. Add butter, and cut in with a fork, two butter knives or a pastry blender until evenly combined. Sprinkle over top of apples.
  • Bake for about 45 minutes or until apples are tender and topping is golden brown. Let sit 10 minutes before serving.

Yes, I agree with P7O - this sounds delish and I have an abundance of apples. Will be trying this in the next day or two. Thanks so much for the post.

Martinelli cider and juice are simply the best apple nectar I have ever tasted.

This was so good! The apple mixture tasted so great, and, other than being asked to double the topping, next time, no complaints there, either! I did have a lil trouble with adding the flour the way it's directed, and no amount of whisking removed all the lil lumps, but it didn't alter the end result. Next time, I might just do the traditional slurry, first, to save my whisking arm! I added my pic, but I'm afraid it doesn't do it justice. Oh, I did serve it with a lil vanilla ice cream. :-) Christinems
