After some research and resorting to asking some Cincy residents, I discovered that, other than the chili, there really isn't much else to culinarily define that fine city. So, at the fear of being redundant, after already having used that style chili in my self imposed NFL challenge, I have mixed it up a bit and used my previously posted, southernfied variety and added it to a pizza crust with the traditional trimmings! Ingredients
- About 2 cups Cincinnati style chili(here's my version chili-heads-south.html">Cincinnati chili Heads South) shopping list
- 2 large thin pizza crusts(homemade or purchased) shopping list
- 1/2 cup Heinz Chili Sauce(not only does it go well, but, it's my lil nod to the Steelers! ;) shopping list
- 1 medium onion, diced shopping list
- 1 cup cooked chili or red kidney beans, drained shopping list
- 4-6oz provolone cheese, shredded shopping list
- 8-12oz cheddar or colby cheese, shredded shopping list
- couple of green onions, sliced, optional shopping list
How to make it
- Spread a thin layer of the Heinz chili sauce over pizza crusts.
- Spread with about a 1 cup layer of chili.
- Add onions and beans over the chili.
- Top with both shredded cheeses.
- Bake per crust instructions, until crispy, heated through and cheese has melted.
